Rob Simpson: Is Crosby OK? Sid the Kid's Sunday Diary
- simmerpuck

Crosby acted a lot out of frustration today. He can't do what he did today too often and expect guys to lay off him for fear they'll injure him or give him another concussion.

Today was very chippy. Crosby wasn't the most egregious offender. Asham's crosscheck to Brayden Schenn and James Neal taking runs at Sean Couturier and Claude Giroux when the game was all but over left more of a bad taste in my mouth than anything Crosby did.

What a mess, Pittsburgh has done a complete 180. 20 goals against in 3 games!?! Gotta be in contention for the worst playoff performance in history, certainly the worst I've ever seen.

On another note (more relevant to this diary), Crosby took a major step backwards today after trying to state he's not the same whinny childish player he used to be.

If I were a Penguins fan I'd be embarrassed. Do you think Mario will sell the team now as he has previously stated he doesnt like it when hockey games turn into donneybrooks? I understand both teams are competing, and the Flyers arent sweet innocent children, but the Penguins pulled a ton of crap out there. And for an organization that tries to act above it all they seem to be involved in a ton of ugly on ice incidents. They are frauds.

You should have picked Malkin instead.

But that would have made for a shorter and more boring blog.

Isn't is fair to ask which Sid we expect to see?

The one who says he will stay away from the dirty areas, and the rough play, for the sake of his safety, and for the team....or this version of Sid today....getting into all altercations, starting problems, chirpingguys, and shooting peoples gloves around?

I honestly don't get what he is trying to do.

I hope he does not get another concussion, but the way he's acting, he's going to get drilled hard.

EDIt. his head is mashed from the last concussion problems...so let's get in a fight....

So strange

...love how he waits to throw punches at giroux until a linesman has got an arm between....Crosby is such a puss and it's gonna be a short career for 87 because someone's gonna put his lights out if this is how he continues to handle his business in the NHL. so sad too, supremely talented....wish he acted more like Gretz.

I am not saying it is going to happen in this series, but it is only a matter of time before someone takes matters into their own hands with Crosby and really lay a beating on him.

I know he might be the most talented hockey player in the world but how can any body like this guy? I had respect for his talent but this just shows how terrible he really is. People always say that he gets more attention and negative press because hes the face of the NHL but you do not see things like this from guys like Stamkos, Giroux, Ovechkin or anyone else in the league. This guy is supposed to be the face of the NHL but he is completely embarrassing. My cousin called me from Tampa today and shes a 27 year old nurse that has no knowledge of hockey and even she was saying how much of a moron Crosby is. How do you expect to gain more fans or keep the fans around with someone who acts like such a child. I am sure I will get arguments from Pittsburgh fans but I do not understand how you could ever want one of your kids looking up to someone that acts like this moron. I know he won your city a Stanley Cup Pittsburgh but how can you possibly defend the way this man acts?

This site is just one big circle jerk.

Sedins take hits non-stop and people say they need to stand up for themselves. Crosby takes hits and stands up for himself -- zomg! how can anyone like Crosby?? Franzen spears a Preds player on the bench... not a word anywhere on hockeybuzz. Can you imagine if Crosby did that? Or Kesler? Or someone else all the circle jerkers here decided is a wussy?

Hell, even Weber... almost everyone agrees that Weber's WWE move on Zetterberg was dirty and should've been a suspension. But nobody calls Weber dirty... they just say that play was. Imagine if Chris Neil did that??

Crosby didn't stand up for himself. He instigated stuff, and then let other fight for him-the only reason he fought Giroux is because after Timonen got involved with Letang(after Crosby went after the 14 year vet with zero previous fights in the NHL) Giroux called him on his bullpoop.

Kesler might get a little leeway if he didn't react to the slightest contact as if he were just blindsided by a mack truck...

Kinda just makes my point. A spear is a spear. Players have a label and that's that.

I wasn't saying Kesler should get leeway. I'm saying Franzen should be being ripped apart. Spearing someone on the bench is as dirty as you can get.

Really? He let others fight for him? In the past, maybe. Maybe every time in the past. But wash the cum out of your eyes and actually watch what went on there... unless you're expecting Crosby to fight everybody on the ice at once, he went after the guy he was engaged with.

Crosby was being a douche in another scrum when he was giving some Flyer guy punches to the back (although nobody would ever call Brad Marchand out for that garbage which he does every single scrum... and you have Rags fans raising the sea level with all of their tears about the Carkner thing)... so sure, call him out for that.

But really it's so obvious that people hate players and anything that players done is then seen in that light. Goes the opposite way too.

meh, I see your point. To an extent you are right, but what you're missing is that people feel that way towards a player because of reputation. For example, I have heard many time that kessler is a diver, and that the nucks dive. I watched them for the first time tonight, and saw kessler dive as hard as I have ever seen someone in my life. Now that reputation is confirmed in my mind, and now i will go tell my friends that kessler/canucks Dive, and that i've seen it.

You have a strong point!
Debating your point of view here is pointless. This site is made for fans to lash out their joys and frustrations of their team (even if it's blown out of proportion). Game#3 showed case one of NHL best rivalry in todays NHL. That also comes with fans trash talking to each other.

Got to love The Playoffs!!!

P.S ... You have no idea how much it hurts not seeing my Habs in the Playoffs this year. I do not care who does it in the East but I will cheer for the team that will put down the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions....

The cum out of my eye? OK, thanks for letting me know never to take anything you ever say with an ounce of seriousness.

You further that fact when you say people aren't aware that Marchand can be a dirty player.

I don't see that it has anything to do with whether or not he fought or stood up for himself. It has to do with his constant complaining and childish antics. Sweeping Voracek's glove away as he tries to pick it up, Putting players in headlocks while they're skating away. And then defending it all by saying he doesn't like anyone on the team. What a joke.

Talented or not, he's a giant tool with the mental toughness and discipline of spoiled 5 year old. That goes for anyone that acts like that, it has nothing to do with the fact that it's Crosby.

uhh..people always call Marchand out for his foolishness. The point here is Crosby's the penguins leader and hes actin like a 4th line goon. I get he should stand up for himself, but him sitting in the penalty box for 5 minutes at a time is not how the Pens are going to pull themselves out of this hole. He gotta man up and take control of things if hes such a great leader and not a child.

Not to excuse Crosby, because I dislike him and he is behaving like an ass...

but the *message* the NHL needs to send is more about not accepting the constant horsepoop that goes on in the playoffs.

Well to be fair Jsaq, if you didn't take the cum out of your eye, wouldn't it start to sting, or glue shut or something?

I think the dude was just looking out for ya man.
