So would most Leafs fans but now that they are out of the playoffs, my bet is they will play better with no pressure like the last few seasons and pull out a win.

I think the Flyers crush them tonight. With Bob in net I think they will be hyper aware of their defensive coverage.

Dangerous game for the Flyers, they could easily take the Leafs for granted. I say Flyers win in OT

Something that came out at practice yesterday is that the Flyers may have violated NHL rules in their handling of Marc-Andre Bourdon's "concussion-like symptoms" several weeks ago.

When questioned by Tim Panaccio about how he was feeling and when he sustained the concussion, Bourdon claimed repeatedly that he "couldn't remember" when the actual concussion happened but admitted that he started feeling headaches, hoped they'd go away as he kept playing, but only got worse.

Bourdon refused the budge on the assertion that he didn't know when it happened or whether the symptoms arose while he was with the Flyers on his previous recall or with the Phantoms.

But here's the thing: Bourdon didn't play at all for the Phantoms -- until very recently --- after the Flyers sent him down. The concussion-like symptoms were first acknowledged by the Flyers shortly after he was sent down, which is why he was sidelined until the game in Syracuse on March 17. Prior to that, his most recent game with the Phantoms was on Nov. 20 before his initial recall to Philly.

So what we have here is one of two possible scenarios:

1) Bourdon kept quiet about his concussion symptoms. The Flyers had no idea the player was experiencing worsening headaches before he was sent to the minor leagues. He then admitted the injury to the Phantoms.

2) The Flyers did know about Bourdon's condition prior to sending him down. That would be a violation of NHL rules, as teams are not allowed to demote an injured player to the minor leagues. A motive to try to do it would be that the team was about to trade for Nicklas Grossmann and, for cap reasons, wanted to get Bourdon off the roster rather than placing him on injured reserve.

Interesting. His last game for the Flyers was on February 18th, and he was sent down on February 19th. If he was playing only the day before he was sent down, it sure sounds as like the first course of action is more likely...or at least plausible as an explanation in a league investigation.

I'll settle for plausible. As long as the player doesn't say anything to the contrary that should be the end of it.

My guess Bill is that the Flyers did NOT know about it. He also was quoted as saying that has played through little ones before. My guess is he knew he wasn't quite right and figured this was his big chance so he wanted to gut it out hoping it would go away and it wasn't a concussion.

This is a good time to showcase Bobrovsky. If the team can play sound defense in front of him like there were with Bryz most of the time, then maybe he can look like a promising future number 1 again. I hope he does well, and it really increases his trade value. We dont have to trade him, but it would be an added plus in the off-season... Go Flyers, Go Bob.

As long a Bourdon says he didn't say anything to the team, then there should be no violation to the team, and I think Bourdon would know better then say anything otherwise, even if he did let trainers know the day before being sent down. Cause I cant believe the Flyers would force him to play if they suspected he had a concussion.

Edit: But not good enough to create a goalie controversy for the playoffs...

LOL yeah. In reality I don't think it matters how well Bob plays, Bryz is the guy.

Though I am sure Wink Barkann, Panotch, and all the rest will try to manufacture some controversy if they can.

If Vancouver decides to shop Schneider, or Los Angeles shops Bernier, Bobrovsky will be a distant third, at best, in the goalie trade market. In fact a guy like Harding as a free agent might be more appealing as a starter.

Habs GM Gauthier is out. Seen some reports saying it was a firing, others that he resigned.

There goes my plan to trade Bobrovsky, Gustafsson and Testwuide for Max Pacioretty and PK Subban

Agreed. There are more sought after guys possibly on the market, and the goalie market hasn't generated much in trade recently anyways.

Bobrovsky likely has more value to the Flyers than most clubs around the league, especially considering all of their depth guys are free agents at season's end.

Idk about Harding. He has some serious health things that seem to keep popping up with him.. and at 27 you would have to think he would have landed a starting gig somewhere by now...

I don't know... Bernier is going to cost someone an arm and a leg. Schneider will also cost more. Bobrovsky may be the "steal" other GM's would be looking for. Much like the Varlamov deal last season. I would be happy getting a first and second for Bob.

The UFA market for goalies is very poor, and there are a lot of teams that either need a starting goalie, or an upgrade. I could see Tampa as a team that doesnt want to give up the house for Schneider, Bernier, Enroth, Lindback... But may be willing to give us some picks for Bobrovsky. Plus Flyers and Tampa already have trading history...
