Maguire would be a good fit. But this guy that went from Montreal to Tampa and possibly back to Montreal is probably the best of the bunch. Was he the top capologist they lost to TB a few years back?

You enjoy Reimer for the next 3 years... according to Burke goaltending is not a problem with the Leafs

nd then there's Pierre McGuire, who everyone knows has an affiliation to Geoff Molson, and obviously would be qualified for the job
- EricEngels

need some clarification on this. why would a guy who has not worked in management in about 20 years "obviously" qualify as a GM?

He has affiliations to Ray Shero, to Scotty Bowman, to Lou Lamoriello (all this as per him). why haven't any of these given him a job over that time span?

He has interviewed for a couple of jobs and not gotten them for franchises much less under the gun than the Canadiens. Why does he "obviously" qualify for them then?

It is obvious so it does not need to be discussed further...

Love how you brag now when you're clearly getting a top capologist to run the Habs....OR a great hockey mind in Pierre Maguire. Didn't hear anything when it was The Goat. But a terrific change and all of a sudden you start yappin. Real classy.

he has experience, he's an encyclopedia, his passion level is unmatchable, he knows the values of the franchise and he's from here, he's a premiere talent evaluator and developer, and he has access to the best people in the game to build a staff.

Maybe Maguire was bettering himself by watching the game, learning the prospects and how the draft best works, closely watching the trade deadlines? Now he's finally ready to put those new found tools together into one hockey winning machine

Sorry... I am just jealous of the combined hockey brilliance coming from the head office of MLSE... There should be a front office cap... it's its not fair that ONE team is THAT stacked....

a) he doesn't have experience in the recent past nor in a salary cap world

b) there's a difference between being an encyclopedia with a good memory and the ability to regurgitate facts and stats about players' birthplaces and junior teams and being able to manage a hockey operations department. That's like saying a guy with an MBA automatically qualifies to be an awesome manager in the business world. Just not true.

c) pretty sure Reggie Houle was passionate about the Canadiens as well, so was Mario Tremblay. What they need is competence and stability.

d) he's from here?!?! who cares?

e) premiere talent evaluator and developer? maybe. Haven';t seen any stunning record in scouting or developing anyone other than the first couple of years in the league everyone though Pronger was a bit of a bust.

f) access to the best people in the business to build a staff? like all his connections who have gotten him jobs over the past two decades?
