It was. This sets the stage for a great game to end the year that is for sure. Hopefully the outcome is different!

Am I the only one sickened by the fact that Kunitz drove his knee into Hartnells face grinding him into the ice and he got off with a minor penalty and that's it? All the while a stupid ref stands there and watches as two wussy linesman can't even pull the dirty Kuntz off our leading goal scorer. Imagine the outrage if Hartnell did this to Crosby?

Top notch stuff, Bill.

There's a bit of the mid-1980's teams in this bunch. The determination and never say die attitude and the tenacity to never give up on a game.

Grossmann was Chris Therien to Malkin's Jaromir Jagr. Bryz was fantastic. Couturier was called upon to be a shut down center all weekend and by and large he did the job well.

The one concern is the lulls-the start of the game in Boston and the middle of the first and most of the second against the Pens. Granted, at least some of that is because both the Bruins and Penguins are damned talented teams. But if they can get more sixty minute efforts, like they did against the Devils on Tuesday, look out.

I'm fine with the penalties regarding manpower on the ice were evened up. However, I was surprised that Kunitz didn't get a 10 minute misconduct.

The officiation was what you should expect with Dave Jackson and a kid on loan from the AHL working a nationally televised blood feud. It seemed like they missed a lot of obvious penalties on the Pens early, but by the end, they were missing a few calls that could have seen the Flyers short a guy.

The refs need to do a better job of separating those two. That was my only issue with the play.

Kunitz should have gotten at least a double minor and a ten minute misconduct. Hartnel played a role in the scrum ok so fine but over the line is over the line.
I was more ticked off with the Malkin elbow to Jakes head.

What really pissed me off what reading espn's recap lastnight, where they noted that the pens were "exhausted from a 3 games in 4 night stretch" They declined to mention that the flyers were also exhausted from a 3 games in 4 night stretch...

Please

You don't think Hartnell has done something similar at the bottom of a pile? I would have been OK with a misconduct as stated above but lets not go overboard.

They need to have linesman that aren't scrawny little wimps and get some big former nhlers in there or something. Kunitz should have a huge target on his back next game. I Want VENGANCE!

Bill what is Malkin's rep around the league other than possibly being the best player in the league?
I think he is a dirty player and is slick with the behind the play cheap shots.

That was ridiculous that they allowed him to continue to rub Hartnell's face into the ice with his arm. I'm not one to complain about the refs but how he doesnt get more penalty minutes is beyond me.

I hear NBC was focusing way too hard on Crosby again yesterday (hearsay, I was at the game). It's a shame, there were far more involved players on both teams than he. I guess that's how sports are broadcast, though. They have to focus on "the guy".
