If only Malkin could figure out how to go into beast mode when Crosby is healthy, you guys would have a ridiculous string of cup defenses going.

To be fair he did win a Conn Smythe when Crosby was healthy, but I agree, he seems to find another gear with 87 out.

Another factor is that the Penguins have not had enough wingers to play with both Crosby and Malkin. When one of those players are out of the lineup they can stack the better wingers with whatever player is healthy. This year the Penguins seem to be in a better spot with their winger situation. Time will tell.

5 minutes of 3-3...there is just no good way to end a game that remains tied at the end of OT.

Totally agree with the trapizoid being tossed, OT going to 10 mins instead of 5, and softening up the equipment some.

Malkin's role is better defined when Crosby is out, especially on the PP. That can't be underestimated.

Here is to hoping they put Sid down low on the PP and Malkin on the half wall in defined roles. I think that would be the dynamic PP we have been looking for.

A fair point. But you'd think that with both of them on their own line, the reduced ability to stack checking lines and shutdown d against them would mitigate that somewhat.

Either way you are blessed to have both of them to watch.

Totally agree with that scenario. Malkin needs to be on the wall and the PP has to run through him. He can't defer his shot to feed 87.

Linemates will be easier to sort out than the PP when Crosby comes back though

I don't know what they're going to do, but just the thought that they could do this excites me.

I don't mind the shootout, or the 4-on-4 or 3-on-3 overtime proposals, but I don't want to go back to a tie.

I'd be ok with getting rid of the loser point though.

I started watching hockey in the late 80's, and I can't remember one memorable tie game. I remember a lot of wins, and some painful losses over the years, but a game ending in a tie usually lacks any emotion afterwards. Besides the "that was an entertaining game" feeling if the game was back and forth, there really isn't any lingering emotion with a tie.

As a sports league, you want emotion from fans. Elated or angry, you want that from your fans.

Nothing worse then paying money and watching a game with no winner IMO. I don't mind the shootout. I also don't think it's as big of a deal as everyone makes it. Every team gets OT points so to the teams that narrowly miss the playoffs they should get more OT losses.

Malkin on the point? That's usually resulted in a charlie foxtrot of a PP

My thinking is they would score so fast the other team wouldn't have a chance to burn him

Hersey concert venue in review: Depending on the size of the concert the Amphitheater side is great. The stadium floor is good and seats are as well (supposedly seats to the right are better). People say to spend a little exact and get yourself a seat because the general admission is bad because its not at enough of an angle to get a good view of the stage unless you are 7 foot tall and can see over everyone. Overall worth the money seems to be the general consensus.

I can hear the post-game presser now....

Reporter: "So, Chris...what did you think about being back there on the point with Geno for that shorthanded goal against?"

Letang: "We got our butts kicked. Thirty seconds. We went like this. He went like that. I said to Geno: Where'd he go? Geno just said Where'd who gooooo?"

Geno: "And get this. He's laughing at us the whole time he skating down the ice."

Duper: (casually walking by) : "That was me laughing, d!ckhead."
