Besides the physical issues that may be bothering Briere. If the Flyers as a team would shore up their team defense. It would go a long way to solving their offensive consistency issues. And create open ice and quality chances for players like Briere. Defense creates offense.

Obviously Briere's faking an injury so he doesn't get traded.

It's a little concerning the way he has struggled, but we've seen signs of him coming around and playing a feisty game and being a burr under opponent's saddles.

That definitely wouldn't hurt. This month is going to be grueling for them. Hopefully the busy schedule forces them to focus on defense.

agreed. hopefully they can put together a nice run of games and maybe put themselves into a position where they could get some breather games at the end. if not it's going to be a grind from now until june, with few days off.

time for the switch to go on and start on... good write Bill about whats to come.

is it me or does it seem like the Flyers play most of their games against the penguins on the second half of a back to back?

Most of the games against the Rangers this season have been the second half of a back-to-back or at end of a 3-in-4/ 4-in-6 for the Flyers. Not an excuse, though.

Briere has taken more heavy hits this season than I can remember. He is a little warrior but this was the fear when the Flyers let Leino walk, not only did they lose Leino but they lost Briere too. It's just not working out, if he turns it up in the playoffs again then I will digress but I have my doubts. Amnesty with his contract if the teams are allowed this summer is something the Flyers should look hard at.

Briere and Timonen are both faking injuries because they dont want to play hard until the playoffs. Isn't it obvious?

They will both miraculously recover just as JVR did as the trade deadline passed. Too bad he faked his foot injury. He must be using some of that new contract money to be bribing the trainers in to convincing everyone his lazy ass broke his foot.

All three of them should be ashamed of themselves. What happened to team? What happened to putting your life in danger to come back like Primeau and Lindros did?

All of them are soft. I call for an investigation.

Briere was an effective player for the Flyers before Leino came on board. Leino played one Season for the Flyers basically. So I find it hard to believe that Leino is the key to Briere. And Briere has proven himself in the playoffs in multiple Seasons. So I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt. In my opinion he has earned that.

True. Briere is just having an off season. Happens from time to time. He is a playoff beast so will have to see how he performs when it matters most.

Personally I think the style of his play, his diminutive size and his age have all caught up to Briere. Amnesty might be a way to go with his agreement or Bryz agreement or Prongers agreement (so he can retire)...damn we have a lot of long agreements.

He does alter his game in the playoffs. Someone cited him winding up for his big slapper more often yesterday. That's a good example. He becomes a much bigger bug for the other team to squash. I'm hoping it continues this year, with the size of his contract and our young centers kicking in the door, Flyers have an interesting decision to make.

I don't understand why they would waste it on Pronger if he can simply be LTIR'd for the remainder of the contract.

Briere will have three years at 6.5M left on his contract. I dont know if the Flyers would use the amnesty clause on him (if available). Briere has produced every single year in the playoffs for the Flyers. His regular seasons have been very good minus this season. You would think the Bryz contract would be the first to go (just bc of its length and NMC). I dont think it reflects that Bryz is a bad goalie but the contract length is alittle ridiculous bc it goes till he is 40.

I just cant believe Bryz's agent was able to get an NMC in that deal.

I see that the Flyers have recalled Eric Wellwood. Wellwood is now faking injury so he can stay in ADK.

Its a nice job by his agent. The Flyers tipped their hand that he was the guy they wanted (by trading for his rights) so they were going to pretty much give him whatever he wanted bc he was considered top tier goalie (only below the elite).
