For the record I am happy the Oilers are losing to the Stars as I want the Stars to make it in over the Kings and I want them to secure 1st or 2nd pick in the draft!! So they can lose every game left this year at really makes little difference!!

I hope they do get Yakupov!! The Oilers D is not as bad as ppl think it is!! Next year will have Musil, Klefblom and Marancin or Tupilov playing on D. The forwards need more depth and Yakupov gives them that!! Hall Eberle Nuge, Yakupov, PRV, Gags, and the bottom 2 lines can be whatever I wish Horcoff gets lost on a road trip somewhere!!

Who cares. Fire Renny so Tambi and KLowe can save there own asses again...Seen this before.

Get some real Hockey guys running the team and you'll have a winner. Keep those two in charge and keep lining Katz pockets with $100's and this is what you're stuck with.

How about Blogs that don't involve Players or coaches, because it's sounding like broken record. Everyone should be female doging about the real problems...AKA the Monkey's running the show.

Remember when Sather could at least put together a team that had a chance of making the play-offs. Been a long time since Edmonton had anything resembling competent Hockey people running the team.

I can just about guarantee the Oilers won't have Musil, Klefbom, Marincin or Tulipov playing for them next season. In many ways, Ryan Murray or Filip Forsberg are the best two options for the Oilers at the draft.

Oh really?? Why exactly would you draft Murray or Forsberg over Yakupov or the other guy that is ranked higher by all hockey pundits?? Please do tell??

Yakupov...my gut tells me he's the type of guy who would ask for out of Edmonton in about two years. And aside from that, the Oilers don't need another offensively talented small winger. I'm not saying Yakupov sucks; he's brilliant. But the Oilers have huge roster holes in other areas that need to be fixed. If the Oilers win the lotto and pick 1st overall, I hope they deal the pick for a Tyler Myers or a Ryan Miller. A player who will help immediately, and fix a problem area on the team.

As far as Grigorenko goes, the knock on him (apparently) is that he plays lazy and disinterested. Brilliant when he is trying, but annoying when he isn't. The Oilers don't need to add an attitude problem.

Ryan Murray is a great young defenseman, and he's named Ryan, so you know already he'd be great. Filip Forsberg could be the big power forward the Oilers Top 6 is missing. Both would be a potential solution to a roster issue, so me likey.

Sorry to have to say this but Tyler Myers is NOT worth a 1st overall pick!! Ok maybe a flip pick and Myers but Myers straight up for a 1st overall NOT even close. Miller yeah maybe but even then I would do it as a flip of picks and Miller! The Oilers (as you already know) will pick BPA and if it is the 1st overall they will be taking Yakupov if 2nd they will take Grigorenko if they get 3rd it will be Murray and later on would be Forsberg! I am pretty sure that will be the top 4 draft order as well!!

Was at the game and no one looked good. Even Octane screwed up their second routine. It's bad when you lose a game where you only give up 14 shots, but it doesn't help when you only take 20. Not one Oiler player looked good and the only Oiler who attempted to do anything was Petrell who hit everything.

I notice something different,Andy Sutton game tonight was a message that he's not happy with the coach sitting him out lately, specially after resigning with Oilers,my believe is that there's lots of players specially the young ones that are not happy with Renney.

Just to clarify on your last blog, Lennart Petrell does not lead the Oilers in hits. He does lead all Oilers forwards though.

Klefbom will probably finish his contract in Sweden, or develop in the AHL IF he decides to come over, Marincin and Musil both need to play at least a year in the A to develop size and/or skill, and Tulipov doesn't even have a contract with the Oilers and doesn't really seem like a guy who can come in and make a difference, a third pairing at best and we have enough of those already. What we need on defense is a #1 or 2 guy to drop everyone one spot into a more suitable role. The last thing this team really needs is another small, albeit, highly skilled winger. I'm sure if we end up with Yakupov it would be great, but I would be in favor of trading the first overall for a proven young D-man or a top 6 power forward (with a pick in return if needed)

Horrible, boring game, and one for the taking if the team had bothered to look interested enough to win it.

I've been on the fire management wagon for well over 2 years now. I can not believe that Katz would agree to resigning Tambi, but I guess you are right, it's the money that is more important. Tambi will not fire Renney because it would make Tambi look bad having 4 coaches in 5 years, and we all know Tambi can not look bad no matter what the situation.

No guts, no balls, no attempt to improve the team in problem areas other than blind stabs for players that never seem to work out, or suddenly have "down" years. Stupid contracts, mismanagement of resources, bad trades, no communication with players or others... yeap, I must have done something real bad in a previous life to warrant being a fan of the Edmonton Oilers. The only thing worse is being a season ticket holder, at least I am not wasting huge amounts of money paying to see this year after year.

I'm tired of the "we will be better next year" line, the "we are rebuilding" line that they will trot out again this summer. The reason this team is as bad as it is is solely because of the management, because this has been going on for a very long time. It's getting to the point that even Mad Mike might do better than this.

That's why I do like reading blogs like Richards, at least it's honest, and not butt kissing so that writer can get access to players and free tickets. The only thing that is cheering me up is the thought that the Flames won't make the playoffs this year.

its gotta be grigorenko, murray or dumba.
another small skilled winger in yakupov is not the answer.

that was a tough game to watch/
but
khabby had absolutely nothing to do with the loss.
first goal belanger didnt mark his guy, and the worst player ever swiped a 2 footer in.
second one nik got bumped out out of the play by his own guy.
he couldnt have 'stolen' this game.
your blame the goalies schtick is getting old.

smyth is starting to really, really frustrate me. hes absolutely useless right now.
horcoff is a joke offensively.
ill live with these guys on the 3rd line next year, but they have no place on the 2nd.
prv needs to step up. his size and success is so vital to us long term imo.

it wasnt a bad idea to put a big bodied petrell on the top line against a big tough bruising team. he played decent.
i like him, but he certainly doesnt belong up there for long stretches.

hall plays hard every shift and i love him for it. he looks pretty frustrated at times though, i hope things turn around for the oil by next year cause i wonder if he might start looking for the door.

loved petrys game..again.

jaimie benn is so sick.
