More shots on goal is the key , they try way to many fancy passes around the net , save that crap for the breakout , once we get in the zone it should be fire away and get to rebounds . Zidlicky is going to be a fine addition , and Larsson will have a big game tomorrow , got to remember Larsson is coming off a painful injury and didn't play for almost two weeks and Zidlicky also wasn't practicing or playing for the Wild in his last week or two with them as he awaited a trade so a good practice today is exactly what he needs . Great to hear about Gelinas , I honestly have never been impressed with Urbom , maybe he makes the team next year .

Not saying it needs to be fancy but the breakout needs to be quicker and more crisp and more than just Kovalchuk , I sat and watched in that Ranger game as Kovalchuk took the puck from behind our net to the Rangers end all while ducking and dodging just about every Ranger on the ice it shouldn't be that difficult and shouldn't be all on one player , a line like Parise Henrique and Kovalchuk should be able to get from our end to the oppositions in about 3-4 seconds with 2 or 3 well calculated passes that include all three players maybe even a defensmen like Zidlicky starting it off .

All the Devils have to do to get ready for the Bruins right now is take a hearty poop and put their jersey's on.

Thus allowing Pierre McGuire to overate Ryan McDonagh's ability to square him up and take him into the corner off the puck.

Every preceding move a player makes up the ice will narrow his new angle a little bit, making him easier to defend for the next person.

That's why you need to be a pretty good player to go end to end on a breakout.

The rangers clogged the neutral zone perfectly. It will not be this hard against other teams to break out.

They broke up the Zubrus line, which was our BEST line.

Parise-Henrique-Kovalchuk
Sykora-Elias-Zubrus
Poni-Josefson-Clarkson
Boulton-Carter-Bernier

Bernier shouldn't be on the fourth line, but I guess DeBoer has no other choice.....

i like it because our 2nd line was accomplishing absolutely nothing.

EDIT: and its a problem when your 3rd line is your best line.

It feels like Elias has been sitting on 19 goals forever now. I know he's still contributing with assists, but his line needs a little jolt. For as many times as the Devils have been in OT, I'm amazed he hasn't solidified his OT legacy outright.

The Poni-Bernier-Zubrus line are workhorses, but aside from the unassisted Poni goal against TB it seems like they've have a ton of puck control/cycling in the corners without much result recently. I know its not their distinct role to be goal scorers, but the ratio seems to be off.

Its also possible that DeBoer needed to slap Clarkson on the wrist and demote him for a game rather the line change being a result of the 3rd liners.

That also wears the poop out of opposing defenders. It may not pay off all the time, but that wears down any team you are playing.

This team has been trying to score the fancy pants way the last two games. Enough of that poop shoot the (frank)ing puck crash the net and screen the goalie. It pisses me off to see PDB say he thought we played good against the rangers....You kidding me they played horrible and need to bring 10x more effort and intensity then they brought. They got outworked for the win its as simple as that.
