I'm tired of the Leafs sleeping until the opposition scores a couple.
9th place after tonight, could be 10th or 11th by end of weekend.
Burke better be on top of his game before he's out of viable options to push this team into the playoffs. |

Going to be a very awkward position for Brian Burke going into the deadline. Is he as desperate as the fans are to get the Leafs back into the playoffs because it's starting to look like this is definitely not a playoff team. Should be interesting to see if he does anything major before the deadline. |

He may just wait until the off season to do anything of substance.

Burke needs to do something before the ship sinks. He's absolutely nuts if he thinks he has built a winning foundation because he lacks a true #1 goalie and true #1 center. Could have had Carter for Gardiner + 1st + and i would have done it in a heartbeat. Gardiner is a stud but you wont have many chances to acquire a true goal scoring #1 center...certainly wont get one through free agency so it has to be through trade. With all the young and upcoming D prospects we have we can afford to part ways with Gardiner and Schenn if it means bringing what we ACTUALLY need to this team. Burke BETTER go after the combo of Brown/Bernier. If he does nothing, he should be fired, don't even care. New coach + New GM = chance at winning if Burke thinks he doesn't need to make any trades. Burkie needs to swallow his stupid pride and get rid of his ego and make deals that will improve this team. I am not knocking Jake Gardiner as i think he is an absolute stud...but we have Holzer, Blacker, Mikus, Percy all coming up soon...as well as Aulie waiting to play. You need to give up to get...and Burke really needs to man the (frank) up.

I've been saying that since last July, they have to get some good players through the draft like Edmonton is doing |

It's crazy that it's true.
There's no chance that Burke becomes a seller at the deadline but it'd be pretty sweet if he did. |

Should've had a better fate tonight...
I like how we finished. Expect them to come out hard against a bruised Caps team Saturday. |

Gardiner? No way he is our best d-man right now, Carter couldn't mesh with Nash. He won't mesh with Kessel, same type of shoot first players. I agree he has to do something, but that doesn't mean you give up a gem like Gardiner. Unless it's Eric Staal or Ryan Getzlaf coming back. |

We have a playoff roster (especially given the sorry state of the teams we're competing with), but not a coach capable of getting us there.
The truly awkward decision Burke will be forced to make is whether or not to sack his buddy when it becomes clear there's nothing he can do to make the team good enough for Wilson to look semi-respectable as a coach. |
