I do think that if he gets traded, Columbus wont get nearly what they want for him.

First off there's only a limited number of teams he'll be traded to; from those teams there's even fewer who want him. From those teams that want him, some of them would have to do roster juggling to fit his massive contract under the cap, and those teams might be scared away by his cap hit in the first place.

I have no doubt tons of teams want him, but I don't think those tons of teams want him at that price, and for what Columbus is asking for him.

I could definitely see Darcy trading for Mr. Pancake, another lackadaisical winger is just what this team needs. Boston is tomorrow, not tonight.

I will say this, if NYR really ends up being the trade partner then I don't have high hopes for Columbus to rebuild post-Nash off of that trade, if at all. Sather is one of the best traders in the league. Seems like LA might work better because they're so desperate now, maybe it's true that Lombardi could lose his job if he doesn't do something drastic.

nice blog...

Some of us have been waiting for the big moves to occur for quite some time.

I think it was well-known that the Sabres with Pegs in the room were not just gonna relax and sell away everyone. I figured they would try to get even-ish trades.

I am happy they are not in on Carter but I do wish they would atleast make an offer for Nash even without him being a Center.

LA - We will trade stafford+picks, or d-men for Brown but Pommer/Roy aren't leaving for Brown unless more offense is in it besides Penner.

Dont get really why all these teams are desparate, they are all more or less more than one or two players away from being anything more than a lower ranked playoff seed.Do any of these teams think there is a magical player that will make them instant cup favorites. With that being said is it worth selling the farm for the mostly overpriced veteran tallent that is always available at the deadline,my guess would be no

Never underestimate how dumb GMs can be, and how desperate....

Burke put it best yesterday when explaining why GMs get so dumb at the deadline, "there's 20 carts in line and 2 checkouts open."

What's even funnier is that it always ends up the same way, some pseudo-contender or bubble team will make a bunch of aggressive moves at the deadline and everyone says they won the day, in reality the best results come from the actual contenders who make quiet, but crucial moves
