TG said he spoke with Elias who is good friends with Zdlicky and the two had spoken last night and Zdlicky never said anything to him about it. This gets weirder and weirder.

If you're hearing about it, it means that Lou isn't doing it. Also, this is more of a Zidlicky wants to go to NJ rather than Lou was asking for Zidlicky. And knowing Lou he is getting the best damn deal possible. Since Minnesota basically has to trade Zidlicky to get something in return I'm betting Lou sends some scrap over.

I'm thinking one of those older prospects and something like a 3rd. That seems fair to me.

I'm not sure how I feel about adding him. If he had a one year deal I would have no problem with it. He has had a poor season. Though he has been good offensively in the past few years.

he gets involved in the play but is very smart about it, and he can move the puck up, which at the moment none of our D can do consistently

I think Zidlicky would have a lot to play for coming to NJ.

Also, I think we'd have to trade a defenseman back. This screams Foster.

MN has been openly critical of Zidlicky, especially the coach, even today. they are not in the best position to get top dollar talent in return.

The Devils with a functioning power play are a much more interesting team come playoff push. Teams that wrote the Devils off as merely and only above average (like most of us have for large parts of the year) have to be turning their heads now.

Zidlicky would be the only natural offensive-minded D on the team and a welcome addition. Not sure he would cost too much either. I heard he spends every off season in the Czech Republic. Can anyone verify that?

Considering his age, and the fact that the first 7 years of his career was played in Europe, this might be one of his last seasons in the NHL.

tao is offensive minded just not that good at it right now

true. he needs time to develop his craft. definitely shows promise. but he also needs 2 more inches. might be the shortest defensemen in the league.
