Am a big fan of Bogosian and haven't been able to see many of his games this season, but I expected him to make huge impact for the Jets. How is his game improving? I see that he is a -7, but that doesn't tell the whole story. Just wondering if he is progressing, but everyone knows it takes defenseman more time to flourish and develop on the NHL level.

Yes, the Jets are such a far superior team. Why did the Islanders even bother showing up?

Bogosian is the best current "defenseman" on the Jets roster. The reason I put it into quotations is due to the flack from people claiming that Byfuglien was the teams best defenseman. Buff may have more points but is still just a huge forward that can play defense.

Most people you talk to will tell you that Bogosian has been a real bright spot this season.

Bogo logs some hard minutes, he had a glorious chance to tie the game last night but rang it off the cross bar. He needs time time to play and learn. Guy has all the tools

I wouldn't take that the wrong way. These truly are the lowly Jets as well. Both teams can be described as such, so I wouldn't take it personally.

I think the point Peter was getting at was that the Jets are above the Isles in the standings and felt like this was a game that you HAVE to win in order to get to the playoffs. You have to be able to beat teams below you in the standings. You would feel the same way if the teams positions were reversed and the Jets came into Long Island and put one on the Isles.

In the grand scheme of things, these teams are both pretty bad.

I figured that. just haven't had enough time this season to watch him. Guy is a stud and will probably be in the running for the Norris in the next 5 years imo. Takes a long time to develop but this kid has all the tools. Wanted Islanders to trade up for him in that draft, but Thrashers/Jets were too smart to pass him up.

Are you guys surprised that your in 10th at this point?

The team is the exact same as Atlanta's except for the additions of who? Tanner Glass and Kyle Wellwood.

Yeah, I'm shocked the lowly Islanders found a way to beat that powerhouse Jets team on their home ice yet again. The Isles should just take the two points and run

There are some possible deals to be had for offensivley minded players the Jets so desperatly need. Jeff Carter, Paul Stasney, Clarke MacAurther, Sam Gagner, Antoine Vermette, Derrek Brassard, and Derek Roy, and Paul Gaustad (not offensive but needed grit). Some of these guys are obviously better than others, but this team is thin up front, and other than Scheiflie, not much in the cupboards. Don Waddel truley ran this club into the sewer. Chevy needs to get creative, and he does have some pieces to deal that are attractive to re-shuffle the deck. I know I said their not deep, but give from what you have, and change the dynamic. There are few untouchables on this squad. IMO, Kane (even though he needs to grow up) will mature into a top 3 forward, Bogo is a solid top 2 for years to come, and Pavelec is franchise worthy. Other than that, if the right deal can be done to get a Carter or Stasney.........Have at it, they have the cap room!

I would support a move for Gaustad and possibly Brassard but you have give to get- overpaying never makes sense.

Ya but Peter, look at this way, the Jets are probably gonna miss the playoffs, and also succeed at retaining a pick out of the lottery in a weak draft. If a guy like Carter, or Stasney's available, you strongly consider it. Jets need help in the middle, and there is no help on the horizion. Ya, give to get, what is it they have that compares with those guys? If they fill the other teams needs, then have at it!

Example: Burmistrov and a 3rd roumd pick for Jeff Carter, or Oduya, Flood and a 1st rounder for Stasney

I disagree with not this post but some of the other, i believe that the cupboard ( St. John's) has some assets and if anything i am more inclined to believe that our 1st pick Schiefle is many years away. I was not at all impressed with his World Junior play and thought, for the most part, they probably made a bad decision keeping him on that team. He lacked, in every aspect.

Back to St. John's, I think Klingberg, Machachek, Gagnon, Cormier, Telegin and Gregoire are all very good, NHL quality prospects. Also the new kid who's name escapes me from Anahiem seems to be alright, hell he has been up for quite a bit this year.

I firmly believe that taking Antropov and Fehr out of the equation and sliding the aforementioned players in would be beneficial to the tempo of play.

God i wish Rick Rypien could have been here. I loved to watch him play.

All due respect, NONE of those prospects are gonna give you what Carter and Stasney will. I didn't say the Jets have NO prospects, just primarly 3rd liners, maybe a couple of 2nd liners IMO. They NEED 1st liners.

Agree with the Rypin Comment

Your last bit is a very astute observation. One has to wonder how the Jets would be with having a guy who played on the edge adn with visible emotion like Rick.

The other part is good too and I may even follow this thought up with a blog on it- does the team get better by subtraction without addition? The change in dynamic by having some fowards in who give a damn, or even compete with heart could do wonders. The bigger question is are they ready to log full time NHL minutes?

We are stuck with Antropov. His salary is the downfall.

One look at hockey futures and you'll see that the jets lack top six talent in the minors.

They also lack goaltending depth.

Carter would be a good pickup. He's a top line center.

Stasney I can't see coming here besides his 6.6 mill cap hit the a vs would want way more for him then the jackets would want for Carter.

Problem is we will have to trade roster players. Little or burmi most likely one of those guys.

So 21 points(12g) in 36 games, (which over 82 games is roughly 48 points), & because i don't follow Columbus at all, i would assume were mostly played with Rick Nash, is a top line center?? Not trying to attack your post at all but it really looks Gomez-ish to me in terms of contract length. I just would not be prepared to gamble on such a long term (7 more years ??) with a cap hit of 5.3 per. He's 27 and you'll be stuck with it if his production starts falling off, it may, of course, be an off year, he's had lots of good ones..... Just not my idea of correctly managing a small market team. Contract lengths of over 5 years scare me, except if your name is Crosby. Opps , how many games has he played lately ?
