John I hate you for posting this. Without a doubt I'm taking Crosby many have short memories and don't recall what he was doing to the league last year when FULLY HEALTHY. Malkin would be the 2nd guy I would take if all were available |

Mike Knuble has served as a healthy scratch the last three games for Washington. Knuble has three goals and 11 points in 53 games. Retirement looms for the 39-year-old winger. Should the Penguins take a chance on him, hoping to catch lightning in a bottle?
Difficult to understand the thinking with the Caps -- if you intend/are trying to trade Knuble, doesn't it devalue him to put him in the press box ? Also, can't envision the Caps trading him to a rival -- I would think he would head West if he is going anywhere. |

It's a tough call -- when Malkin plays like he is playing right now, he is a physical presence who is maybe unmatched in this league. The issue with Malkin is that he typically lacks the consistency that you see with Crosby. |

C-bus is a freaking mess
Comrie needs to get that hip healthy for Mrs. Duff
Not touching the Sid/Malkin question, we are spoiled, period.
Knuble would be nice, but who would he have to give to the Caps?? considering he has been a scratch, would a draft pick do?

That could be countered with, will Sid ever be fully healthy again and stay that way. That cannot be ignored. |

If the Caps are prepared to write-off the season, a draft pick might do. It's going to be a tough sell to the fanbase here, though, with the Southeast/teams from the 6th spot on down being so mediocre that a playoff spot is there for the taking. |

When healthy they are both scoring machines that can dominate a game. If I had to choose I'd take Crosby.
Lemieux, Jagr, Crosby, Malkin....
I HATE YOU PITTSBURGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the premise was a fully healthy Crosby vs a fully heathy Malkin. I think the answer is that you take the fully healthy Crosby because you know that you are going to get a consistent, ultra-high level performance. The counter is that Malkin at his best might be the most dominant player in the world. |

Knuble is a Shero type of acquisition at the deadline absent the Neal deal. Guerin, Roberts ... were on their downside of their careers but were brought in to provide leadership; playoff experience. Considering it seems 80% of Knuble's goals the last two years have been score against Pittsburgh ... |

Why was Holtby in net last night? Were Neuvirth and Vokoun injured/sick? I know one of them was, but didn't see the game or read why.

If healthy, Crosby, no doubt about it. Malkin is my second choice around the league though. |

They aren't writing off anything. I'm not sure if they make the playoffs, but they better (frank)ing try. |

Even if they aren't, scratching a guy like Knubble for 3 games because of performance is saying a lot. I wouldn't mind seeing if he can find his game here for a low price. |

Vokoun was sick (per the team) and that is why he didn't start on Sun/Monday. Neuvirth continued his weak play on Sunday, so I believe they called up Holtby hoping that he might provide a spark last night. He didn't play poorly (the D really hung him out to dry, and he gave up the second of what are those once-a-year fluke deflection/bounce goals from center ice -- Vokoun gave up one against Winnipeg last night). They are going to live/die with Vokoun down the stretch and into the playoffs, if they make it. |

Does it seem as tho, Leonsis has been less involved with the Caps since he took over the Wizards, obviously his time is, but the attachment he has had the last 2-3 years doesn't seem to be there now. |

I don't think they are writing it off either, but if they go pointless in the 3 Southeast road games this weekend (with no Backstrom/Green on the horizon), they might be inclined to look toward next season. |

That's a good thing though. The Caps issues start with McPhee. I know that there aren't many good GM candidates out there right now with proven track records, but he should have went a while ago. |

We have seen Crosby light it up in the Caps series and 09, and then Malkin just goes nuts the next series vs Carolina. It's just astounding at times. Crosby goes on his 'assault' last year, and now Malkin this year. Rather than choose between them, I would like to see them both healthy for good, and both playing at their highest level, at the SAME time. |

You would think that this is McPhee's last trade-deadline if things don't turn around. |
