I have to think a coaching change is coming before Tuesday. It is easier than making 5 trades. The clock is ticking on stan too.

Besides health, isnt this the same team that won more games than any other team in December? Can it be said that teams have found a formula to beat us?

Great read JJ....another thing that would really, really help, is a goalie that can go post to post without drifting out to the boards and leaving acres of twine visible. THAT would be a real nice thing to see.

JJ - you think they'd can Havalind too? Some think that they, and the league are high on him, so therefore he'd stick around and be the coach at least thru end of yr. But maybe he can't give the independent assessment you were talking of.

I agree with you. Given that this can't be fixed with a deadline deal or two, maybe you make a coaching change, don't do anything desperate trade-wise and assess where you are at. Then make changes via trade at the draft, etc.

As I said on Twitter last night: $64,000 question.

Is he potentially the solution, or does he have enough blood on his hands that he's part of the problem?

Would switching to him be enough of a change?

I am a big fan of his. I also believe he and possibly Q would be "reassigned" within the organization, and depending on the length of his deal, Haviland could be back in some capacity behind the Hawk bench.

Go after Toews, gum up the neutral zone, force them to the perimeter. And the Hawks have no answer.

No flexibility, no ability to adjust to the ice - coaches or players (or have the players just stopped listening to the coaches?).

My thought is that Havi has limited to no blood on his hands since its widely known the portion of the game he's coached has gone well.

Scotty would take the interim role to coach as a wake-up call & to assess talent.

Q & Kitch would go and dare I say Troy Murray could come down from the radio booth to be an assistant with Havi as a tryout. I really like his honest assessment on game play during the post-game talk. Former Selke Trophy winner (yeah it was an offencive year, 45-54-99) and a real physical talent. I think Edzo has become a little too much an entertainer and corporate boy. I like him but think Troy would be better.

Troy would handle the O, Havi the D & Scotty would be the one to do all the "recommendations".

1/3 of the roster needs to go and it's not just the lower level shlubs on one year contracts. I've given up on this year
Toews looks like he is on the brink of losing it.

We need to get Sutton, Gill, Nabokov and Ruutu.

I thought we only needed 1 D, but Leddy is awful right now.

Paul Maurice is always available. He'd be a good enough fill in for the time being.

Exactly, a playoff birth looks reasonable at this point . Anything past that is a stretch with this roster. Why trade assets away for a slight chance that something may work?

Knuble would help, pass on Softie Shultz. Saad will not go for either.

This organization continues to operate under the insanity belief....that the same group of players, systems, will lead to different results.

Well, it hasn't worked for the past 2 years, and we were promised a "tougher" team, and utilizing cap space to fix in season holes...Well, neither has happened.

Fact is, this is THE Corey Crawford that got passed by in the organizational depth charts by Khabibulin, Patrick Lalime, Niemi, Huet, Turco, etc.....He's mentally soft and can't shake off a bad goal against. This whole slide started when he let in a 100+ footer against Nashville a few weeks back, and he hasn't recovered since.

The D is a joke. EVeryone is at fault. Keith, Leddy seem to make more glaring mistakes then Seabrook, but it's just a matter of WHEN not IF this defense costs this team.

Throw in that your 2 point guys are ass tired, beat up from carrying this team the 1st 50 games, and now thsi team can't score...because....again.....NO DEPTH. All Bowman's great adds are just that....all talk. Stalberg is Versteeg. Skilled, but absolutely moronic in his own zone. Frolik? Time to go...starts on the 1st line, and finds himself scratched the next night. Not a coincidence. That ship has sailed, this team needs more then just a guy "trying hard".

This team has quit, and honestly, as much as I love playoff hockey...maybe the only way THEY actually change their approach is when they miss the playoffs, and have to REFUND all that playoff money that they just collected, including mine.

I said a few backs, this road trip would kill them...Their on the verge of fallling into 7th, and soon 8th. OTher teams are ramping up and the Hawks are regressing. A 0-8-1 road trip is VERY REALISTIC and before I got bombarded by the pom-pom waiving kool aid drinkers....you tell me what reason I shoudl have to think anything different based on what we've seen....

Sutton close to signing an extension in Edmonton. Hawks were clos eon him but it looks like the possible re-up was the holdup.

Gill, Nabokov and Ruutu would be fine for a start, but the price is higher than the Hawks can pay without cutting into the core.
