Granted, these games were against some of the toughest Eastern Conference opponents, but expecting your backup to get a shutout in order to get a win is a bit much.

Yeah, I have to tell you, I'm still puzzled by Trotz's decision to start Lindback against the powerhouse teams while playing Pekka against the lesser teams. NYI vs NYR, MN vs PHL.

Start Lindback in back to back games against the lesser team, not the better team. Are we going to see Lindback against ALL the Eastern Conference teams now or just the best ones? Should I be expecting Lindback in net when I go to Boston next weekend and Pekka against Carolina at the end of the month?

I don't get it.

I guess the rest of the team doesn't want Anders to get traded.

I agree that Lindback needs to play a few more games. but it doesnt make sense to throw him against the stronger teams. I just dont understand trotz's thinking here.

Folks, Smithers needs to go. Yes he scored the game winner vs Ducks in game 5 last year but has done little else since. he haas like 5 points, sure his faceoff % is one of the best on the team but we dont have the luxury of having a designated face-off taker. We have plenty of other folks willing and able to do the penalty killing. Either he steps up or 18, 24, etc will get his minutes and he will be earning pine time with 23.

Trotz wants to keep Pekka's win streak going......How else do you explain it?

If the NHL is investigating the clock incident in LA, how come you never hear of them investigating linesmen or refs for making (or not making) calls that result in goals such as when a play is clearly offside or there is goalie interference. These instances happen more often...the clock thing rarely happens and I never heard of it before....shouldn't investigations be done into the situations that occur most often to reduce them from happening? So many goals scored are controversial but they choose this one rare incident to investigate...doesn't make any sense.

More ammo to bring in a coach's challenge.

You guys played well last night and surprisingly, Bryz stepped up to the challenge. He made some momentum saves for us and that allowed our team to compose themselves during times of defensive breakdowns.

So, if you guys were to deal either Suter or Weber to us, what would you consider fair compensation?

So Yip gets a goal and assist and gets rewarded with the pressbox. That's Trotz for ya. He has a hard on for Smithson. Spaling is Smithson plus some. No need for Jerrod anymore.

It pains me to say this but I am kinda in agreement with you. As for designated faceoff guys we have Fisher who is usually strong and Craig Smith went 10 out of 11 last night...he may have gone perfect 10 for 10. That fourth line with Smithson looked far less deadly than it did against the Wild. The key is youth and Yip, Halischuk, and Smith are tenacious and want to shoot, Smithers not so much.
I love Smithson and hope he retires a Predator...but something has to give...at least we have him for depth if anything.

That's not even realistic. Girous is already a superstar in the league and is only 24 yrs old. Let me ask you this...would you rather part with, 20 or 6?

Every game is important, however, a loss against Minn. hurts more than a loss against Philly. We're trying to keep as much distance between us and the #9 spot as possible. So, it was even more important to beat the Wild.

If Anders is going to start, it may as well be against an Eastern team so that the loss doesn't hurt quite as much.

More ammo for a lot of changes with regards to things like that. I timed it and it remained at 1.8S to go for precisely .54 seconds. So, in theory, the goal should have come at +.14sec on the flip side of 0.

As far as last night, from what I watched, it was a good effort. Unfortunately I am also on the boat as far as Smithers. He has been a great asset for our team for years, but it's to the point now where, when we put him in the lineup he becomes a penalty liability or he's just simply invisible. To the point above about Spaling being Smithers plus - it's true. I mean, when is the last time we looked at Smithers scoring record and said, "wow, look at that win streak"? He could retire now and be our PK coach in an instant, though.

Sleepwalk for 50 minutes in Minny and win, play nearly as well as they have in any game all year at Flyers and lose 4-1.. The Hockey Gods giveth and they taketh away..

I'll take the Philly loss to loosen team up a little against Blues Saturday night. A little less pressure instead of thinking "ooh we have a 6 game win streak gotta keep it going.." and tighten up.

The thing is, I don't think any of these trades are going to happen. We can all speculate on what's a good deal and what isn't, but they'd ultimately all be hypothetical and nothing more. Either Suter re-signs or he walks. Which will have a direct effect on Weber after next season. Poile is pretty unremarkable when it comes to trades.

They do have investigations on the ref's performance. You just won't hear about it because it puts the refs in a really bad position the next time they put on the uniform. Any and all investigations, discipline etc are done behind the scenes when it comes to the refs.

Yea, but that's what makes this site entertaining...hypothetical trades. In my opinion, I think you guys keep Weber and Suter walks after the season. But NSH and PHL have always been good trade partners.

Yeah our connection here at work is pretty crappy until we get an actual office. This Office Suites Plus wireless does some weird things internet related. Emails will send if you reply to someone, but not if you create the email. Double posting here, sure... why not says the Sonicwall.

Anyway, yeah. GO PREDS!
