Bang a gong, right on Bill.

The shorthanded break to Grabner was a perfect example of the game. Schenn made a soft pass to Carle and Carle neither moved in to the pass or retreated when he saw Grabner was going to get the puck not that he would have beaten him in a foot race anyway.

Not picking on those two that's just a play that pretty much was the game in a nut shell.

I do give the Islanders credit though, they did work hard and the Tavares line was excellent all night.

The Islanders came to play last night. The Flyers decided to only after needing to make a comeback.

Sure seemed as if the Flyers expected their streak against the Isles to continue by simply showing up and starting Bobrovsky. The latter part of that idea held up. Bob played great. The team was not matching the intensity of the Islanders and it played very stupid hockey.

First change that has to be made. Stop using the Giroux line head to head against other teams top line. Start there.

Im glad they had giroux in the lineup last night to fight and protect the players so that players like shelley won't be run at and can score goals......oh wait..........

Something is obviously wrong with Shelley's magical, mystical powers that will keep the opposition from checking, or playing physically against one of the leading scorers in the League, and the early favorite for the Hart Trophy.

They are DREADFUL defensively, and that might be me being too kind.

Giroux has been in 3 fights now in his career. What that tells me is that he doesnt look to fight, but wont back down either. He handled himself admirably. Jody Shelley isnt gonna fight every single game he plays, and last night there really wasnt an instance where I thought he should have gone after someone in particular. Shelley took 5 shifts last night.. and was relatively ineffective. Dont need him out there taking penalties in one of those 5.

Even Giroux.. who I honestly think is gripping the stick a bit to hard.. He needs to settle down and keep it simple.

Briere has been infuriating to watch over the past 15 or so games (aside from the Ottawa game). At times you dont even know he is out there..

EDIT: Over the last 15 games.. aside from the Ottawa game.. He has 3 points..1 goal and 2 assists and is a -5

i'd also break jagr and giroux up. perhaps all three of them. disgraceful defensive effort from that group as a whole over the last couple/three weeks. turn over after turnover after turnover and lost checks in their own end for point blank goals. enough already.

but heres the thing the team is down on the scoreboard and its the perfect time for someone to step it and fight someone and rile the team up.... and it should be shelley, thats why hes there. It shouldnt be our best player out there fighting and being off the ice for 5 mins. Thats why I didnt mind having carcillo or cote on the team because they always fought someone when the team needed to be re energized even if they got their face punched in.... Just like when talbot fought against carcillo in the playofffs and the penguins came back and won the game. Thats one of the reasons I hate having shelley in the line up so much because hes practically useless.....

Read-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Briere
Simmonds-Coots-Jagr
Harry Z-Talbot-Rinaldo/Shelley

I am ready for Danny to play a little wing.. maybe that will get his fire going.
