Absolutely agree with everything regarding Kovalchuk. Futhermore, he's done all of that playing out of position on RW. Something everyone said he was utterly incapable of last year. Truly amazing player that will never get the credit he deserves for his all around ability.

If it wasn't his contract year and they werent bending over backwards to make him happy, Parise would be on the RW, as it is clearly the better fit schematically.

Good blog, really agree on Kovalchuk. It's not like past years where if he isn't playing well he is hurting the team out there. Still one of the most deadly snipers in the game.

As for Sykora helluva year for him. Goes from a different league, to an invite,to a NHL contract and then gets himself a 20-20 like season. Can anyone ask for more out of this guy?

Also agree re Kovalchuk. I think the people who still have issues with Kovalchuk still have issues with his contract, which isn't going to change, so they need to move on. He's playing great.

I completely agree with you guys about kovi... I feel that the only people who criticize him are people who don't watch devils games. He has turned into a complete player, which makes a player twice as dangerous when you're good on two sides of the puck. The devils are so much more exciting to watch since we got him. Hes the kind of player that is worth paying extra to go to see.

Sure looks like Lou knew what he was doing when he let Blowmez waltz out the door across the pond to the NYR. He have a goal yet this year?

If people think that Kovy is overpaid at 6.66per then Scott Blowmez is basically getting away with highway robbery. To think that this deal would EVER happen is such a joke.

If this next CBA has a one-time-only, one-player, penalty-free contract buyout (like the last CBA did) MTL will definitely buy out Gomez's contract. Have no fear.

If the Devils were to ever trade Kovalchuk, it would be so that they can resign Parise, if and only if the financial troubles are THAT bad, aka get a player with a lower cap hit, something Gomez does not have. Which makes the deal stupid right then and there.

last nights game was a great TEAM game, where everyone played their part and the guys you want to show up, showed up

tomorrow will be a big test

i agree with 100% with your kovy comments

he saved a goal last night to keep it 0-0 and then scored with a min left to go up 1-0, and alot of people say he doesnt play D, he has gotten much better and is becoming a 2 way forward, he wont ever be a great player in the D end but he isnt as much of a liability as people proclaim

and the whole he is "selfish" debate is ridiculous, he is always trying to get everyone involved, he is a big TEAM player and when he does well and team does well he never talks about himself, its all team and deflects questions about himself, and there was a game earlier this season where kovy was interviewed when marty had a big game and kovy was 1st star and kovy was saying marty should be here he is the reason we won today he is 1st star

also loved clarkson's comments last night

kovy is one of the best team players i have ever played with, always there to help.....

The only thing wrong with Kovy is that ridiculous contract. Other than that I have no issues.

Yeah, because the team trading the best assets are required to help the team who needs to move salary out.

Kovy stated yesterday that the boys are playing their best hockey so far, and even though they have a few injuries (Zajac, Henrique) they face a huge challenge tomorrow in the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are the complete package, and they showed that in the last meeting which they pounded the Devils 6-1. So now this is the time to remeasure the depth and talent of the Devils to that of the Bruins.

Hope they make a statement that this team is for real, and no one takes it to us in our own rink.
