The medical problem for Benn puts the Stars in a brutal bind at center which is where there is no top level depth. Wandell needs to step up his performance and I guess that Ott would be a choice for the other center. Scoring will be a problem so Lehtonen/Bachman and the defense will have to be strong and consistent with the intent to keep very low scoring games. I might consider giving Matt Frasier a call up from the AHL since he has shown the ability to score goals even if his overall game is still a work in process.

Stop me if you've heard this before, Stars get off to a respectable first half and can stay in the hunt and end the playoff drought if they can get over key injuries.

It's possible but going to be tough, the lack of depth at center is well documented. They really need Kari or Bachman, if not the whole team, to step up. I fear even if with strong perfomaces in net it's going to be a major challenge to score more than a goal a game.

Going to be a very tough road upcoming for Stars. They're going to have scratch out low-scoring victories but also get some scoring support from D-men such as Goligoski, Souray and Daley.

Mike Heika reports forward lines at practice today:

Brenden Morrow-Tom Wandell-Loui Eriksson
Eric Nystrom-Vernon Fiddler-Michael Ryder
Steve Ott-Adam Burish-Radek Dvorak
Francis Wathier-Jake Dowell-Toby Petersen

Wandell as our number one center DO NOT LIKE!

We'll be lucky to put any in 5 on 5. The power(less)play has been awful and i suspect it'll get worse.
