Sports in general can suck it. I’ve been increasingly taking my dollars elsewhere. It used to be entertainment, an escape from the b.s., politics and drama of the real world. Now, it’s become its own source of b.s., politics and drama. |

Amen. Last week I’d posted a link about AZ selling. The article was deleted and “ the team is going to get land in June” on Monday. By Friday, Utah. The shilling and narrative is garbage |

My Bally collapsed at the end of the year. I’d have to shut everything down and reload. Was sort of frustrating |

What P*sses me off is that the fans are the very last to know. I’ve got a year’s worth of this garbage and the NHL and broadcasters do their level best not to even acknowledge it. When Diamond said, “we’re cutting off Bally and taking the name”, that should have been a headline in multiple places. TV isn’t just revenue (low revenue from Bally anyway) it’s how people get access. The sport loses fans because they can’t watch the games. The NBA is freaking out about 1.4m average viewership while the NHL dropped below 700k. Same basic networks, but one sport costs a lot more to facilitate.
Sorry to go off. I love this sport. If there are issues, let the fans know. That’s who is going to step up and by tickets and pay subscriptions |

Yzerman needs to stay away from free agency this offseason.
Bring back Kane, Gostisbehere,Sprong.
Trade Holl, Fabbri, Chiarot, Copp. (if you can)
Dont bring back Perron! |

Perron is getting near being extended, and possibly Reimer.
Nobody wants Holl, Fabbri or Copp. Chiarot stays.
A Holl buy out saves over $2.2M this year and next with half that much in year 3 and 4.

Yea nobody dared to mix sports with politics…except for the ‘72 Summit Series, ‘80 miracle on ice, and that’s just a couple of example with hockey. There’s also
1. Muhammad Ali in ‘67
2. ‘72 Munich Olympics terror attack
3. Billie Jean King and battle of sexes
4. Jesse Owens in ‘36 Berlin Olympics
5. Black Power
6. Jackie Robinson
Let’s face it, since the dawn of mass media, sports and politics have collided for decades now |

Amen! We’re singing from the same hymn book. However, they don’t care about us. We are taken for granted, that we will always follow, like blind sheep. But, the numbers reflect a shift in attitudes towards sports in general.
No reason to be sorry! Your sentiment is the same as many fans in general. You just have a larger forum to express it, and most of agree with you!

I think there’s a difference between genuine movements and the politicization. I’ll do my favorite. Jim Thorpe. A Native American, had his shoes stolen. He ran (and won) is mismatched shoes. But more than ever during the season players have reporters egging them on to get the sound bite and then delete the question so it sounds impromptu. Those clips are jumped on and it goes viral. Now the players have full training on “social media” at training camp to learn how to stay out of trouble. That’s a far cry from someone just fighting to be recognized or a military action. |

Cool story: I was in charge of an Army recruiting company, the Jim Thorpe Recruing Company just outside of Bethlehem & Allentown, PA. There's a town called Jim Thorpe there, of course. Coal mining town, used to be called Mauck Chunk (no clue what it means...), was going broke, advertised in Variety magazine or some such, offering to re-name the town after a celebrity who wished to be buried there. Jim Thorpe attended the Carlisle Indian school in Carlisle, PA, the Family lived PA. When he passed, they interred him in the newly named Jim Thorpe. Anyway, I was promoted at his burial site and relinquished command of the recruitng compqny there on the same day. A distant relative was there just visiting, so I had the immense honour of meeting a decendent and have them present for 2 major professional events in my career.
Through all of the crap he went through, he never harboured any hatred for the way he was treated. He was, hoever disappointed in the way people treated him. He was an amazing man, an incredible human being, and a glorious role model for people to emulate. So sad that many "famous" people act the wat they do.....disappointing. Sport is for sport, an escape, supposedly bring out the best in us. Now it's just another platform. Again.... disappointing. |

The Spitten' Chiklets guys were pretty rough on the Murels (sp?) and how they had hotels cancel reservations because of non-payment, and a host of other crappy things the Family did to players and staff. So I'm not surprised at how the whole move went down. They guy's a bum, if you ask me....IF he gets the land, there's the chance of Indian remains being found, which immediately stops excavation & building. What a train-wreck. |

Should hear the Spitten' Chiklets guys talk about us missing the SCPO and how much better we'd draw an audience and how much better we'd play. Was cool to hear 2 former players talk about "HockeyTown" and how much they want us back in the hunt.
I'd like to see which kids make the club in the Fall....would suck to lose Kane, WILL suck to lose Kane, I'm convinced he's gone (want BADLY to be wrong. ..). Holl's wasted $$ and would cist us over 4 years, right in line with when we should make the SCPO & grow into a more well-rounded team. Still has 2yrs left. Would definitely retain 50% to ship him off. Copp's a better defensive forward, but WAY too expensive for what little he actually does. Cgiarot git better as the season went on, then took a crap penalty, or blew an outlet pass, or git the doors bliwn off him by an opposing player....then I realized that he can defend some, but the negatives in his game far exceed the benefits. Fabbri could've been a good player, but injury has taken away whatever he could contribute. Wholly agree that it's time for Perron to move into coaching. |

Don't apologize, Jeremy. Fans are getting screwed left n right across the sports spectrum. I've told stories about being at various military locations & how awesome it was to be able to see Detroit sports. Now I have to give up a big toe just to hear a 30sec broadcast clip. It's just greed. Just a way to make $$ any way they can. The blantant disrespect shown to fans should be embarrassing, but the $$ hide any guilt.
If I tally up how much I spend in streaming I believe I'd throw up. And it's only going to get worse as the big names get more & more ability to screw the fans. Exclusive rights...Godzilla movies (don't laugh, the new ones are pretty good, and I LOVED them as a kid....y'all did, too!!!) are exclusive to Apple, Marvel to Disney, etc... and they charge as much as they want. What's going to happen is these companies will price themselves right out of a product because some of these teams (Arizona, for example...)are going to go broke, which means less if the product. And honestly, watching some of these broadcast companies go broke won't make me sad. Reality's gonna really suck for many of them.... |

Of all the places in the world, my step dad took us to England, where he grew up. There was a theme park called “Thorpe Park”. That’s where I heard about him first. To put it in perspective, Thorpe ran a triathlon and a 5 event match that they took out because it was so hard. Two different sized shoes, and it was raining. Still grabbed first in most events and first overall. Was stripped of his medals until fairly recently. It was nasty. Like you said, Thorpe wanted a positive impact and that says a lot about the person

Not that I know many billionaires, but this dude did everything to get out of paying bills. The Gila lease was reasonable and gave them a chance to have more than 5k people. He wanted 1 to 3 more years at the college! What is the vetting process? |

In my lifetime the hardest departure has been Doc Emerick. And if the police would let me, I’d go hang out with him (lives fairly close by). He was timeless and loves the game. What a voice, and what passion. It never occurred to me that as video games were able to give more detail it was a conversion to AI play by play. I want to see what the best human being can do. We’ve seen the training and the pushing and the growth. Will we even know the deep fake when we see it? Some of that stuff is pretty good and can’t (yet) be copyrighted. Sucks man.

Should find a way to dump Holl to keep Ghost.
Perron better be dirt cheap.
Kane would be nice to keep.
Sprong and Fischer are whatever.
Nothing wrong with keeping Copp, Chiarot, and Fabbri. |
