Hopefully, the Rangers don't get swept by Tom Wilson and the Capitals.

I am in agreement with calling up a few players from Bridgeport and resting anyone that needs a maintenance day. Not sure what they will be able to do based upon the cap. I would also give Sorokin the start.

Regarding the upcoming series against the Canes:
This is the third playoff meeting between the Islanders and Hurricanes. Carolina has won each of the previous two meetings, 4-0 in 2019 and 4-2 in 2023.

The Isles and Canes played four times in the regular season and the Isles went 2-1-1.

Maybe this the year and the Isles win in six.

Nice under the wire signing for prospect pool.

Marshall Warren is originally from Laurel Hollow, NY and spent four seasons at Boston College before joining the Wolverines for his final season. At BC, the 22 year old defenseman captained the Eagles during his senior year and had 57 points (20 goals, 37 assists) in 130 career games. His junior year at BC, Warren finished the season with a career high 15 assists and 21 points in 37 games. With Michigan, he notched 18 points (4 goals, 14 assists) in 41 games as a graduate transfer.

Hoping they play Rempe to “counter” Wilson. The difference, as much as it pains me to say, is Wilson can play hockey.

Has a playoff schedule been posted yet? Of course I'm going to be out of the country from tomorrow to Wednesday.

This game tonight is more meaningless than a preseason game.

They can afford to call up two guys from Bridgeport. So between that and having Holmstrom/Wahlstrom/Bolduc as extras...they can rest a total of 5 skaters if they choose to. Whether or not they do that is a different story.

I believe the playoffs are going to start on Saturday. NYPD/FDNY game is Saturday at UBS so my guess is the Isles play Sunday/Tuesday in Carolina, then either Thursday/Sat or Friday/Sunday at UBS depending on if they give them the extra travel day or not after the games in Carolina.

As long as no one gets hurt. It's a meaningless game so I doubt the players will be flying at each other.

Yeah, problem is if the Pens/Isles put some guys in the lineup that aren't regulars and are trying to win a job next year then you never know what might happen. A guy trying to break in on the fourth line next season might be out there going full-bore and trying to run players over. Not likely to happen, but I don't think everyone from both teams will be mailing it in out there.

2-1-1 means the Canes ALSO went 2-1-1 in those games.

Canes outscored the Isles 16-14.

Three of the games were played prior to Christmas.

No, they are pros. I expect them to play to win, but they all know it's a meaningless game.

They shoulda found a way to sit Nelson for anyone in bport. They can’t afford to lose him to injury….hes an anchor for this team.

He's gonna have to get his poop together if he's going to continue being an anchor. He's been pretty bad for like a month now. He seems to be turning the corner at the right time, but they need his offensive production.

I agree that I'd rather they sat two more guys for Bridgeport players in a meaningless game, I don't think one extra game of a pre-playoff "warmup" is really going to change much for any of the guys that are in the lineup.

Hard to understand why they wouldn't call up Ishakov and another guy from B'port. I just hope no one gets injured tonight.

That fall into the boards vs the rangers may be hurting barzal a bit. Figured he wouldn't skate tonight
