If they aren't done, then they are pretty close to it. They pretty much have to win 75% of their last games and then probably get some help along the way.

When Dylan Strome was available I thought Stevie would make a bid for him. TOO BAD.

I kinda feel like Daffy Duck playing Robin Hood ("Yoikes, and away!" only to smash right into a tree....over....and over....and over....). Good points in the game; The Cat & Kane tallied, Lyon sounded pretty solid (had to listen to the game....travelling for work...AGAIN!). Absolutely ZERO clue for Sprong not being in the line-up, unless he said something mean n nasty Getting a point is good, but we really let this one slip away. This team has GOT to find a way to hit the ice pissed off every game and stay that way. I mean, yeah it's hard to perform at an incredibly high level for 60min every other night or so.....but that's what ya get paid to do, that's what you train for.....I just don't get it.

Honestly, I didn't THINK we'd even still be in the hunt when the season started, at least not this late in the season. So I'm impressed that we made it this far and COULD still make it this year. But, the reality is I just don't see it happening. I watch teams liek FLA, VGK, etc... Those dudes skate like the wind EVERY shift, ALL game, EVERY night. We simply don't have the horses to run like that.......yet. ASP played well the other night. He needs to be in GR next season. Eddy sounded good (again, preference is to WATCH a game so I can see what guys do off the puck...). There are some good players in the queue. We're going to be ok in the future, but the reality is that it's probably 2-3yrs away. At least it's closer NOW that it was 8 years ago!!!

It's definitely going to be a grind trying to squeeze back into a wild card spot but the opportunity is there. Washington is stringing some wins together right now but they certainly have their flaws as well.
I know most of us are hoping they will grab a spot so the youngsters can benefit from the experience of playoff hockey but I think this late-season experience is huge whether they get in or not. A bitter taste from being so close as they head into the off-season should create a mindset full of determination with an underlying sense of belief for the off-season and heading into the new season.

I wonder where we would be if we had Trotz as our coach and Philadelphia has Lalonde. I still believe that it is inexcusable that we were up 10 points and the team lost 8 straight when we controlled our own destiny. Fire Lalonde most businesses if run properly would never allow such a poorly run organization when it was so important. Losing 2 games to Arizona when the games meant so much show how poorly and inadequate Lalonde is. Fire Lalonde

Put a fork in them... they're done. Those two embarrassing losses to Phoenix along with the 8 game losing streak were the final nails in the coffin. The remaining schedule is too much for this team to string enough wins together. Not making the playoffs this year. Still think LaLonde is not the right coach this team needs. Maybe having Sprong in the lineup for the last two consecutive losses would have helped... ya think ??

How many, if any, of your UFA's do you expect to re-sign? I'd guess you move on from Perron due to age? Do you expect Kane back?

What do you see as the biggest needs going into next year? I've watched about 8 full DET games this year (most in the first half of the year, but two since the deadline). It seems there is plenty of talent, but it doesn't all work together well.

10 games left, with 6 of them on the road. One of the home games is against N.Y. That sums up why they will miss the playoffs. AGAIN.
