It’s been quite a while since the last time a top end 1C was traded straight up for a 1D. Probably have to go back to Chicago trading Denis Savard to the Habs for Chelios.

I know it’s purely hypothetical, but Draisaitl for Dahlin is juicy as hell

I actually think BUF would / should say no, given age and contract status. It took a few years for Hedman to become Hedman, and I think Dahlin is on that same trajectory. He’s already a good deal at $11M, and they’ve got him for EIGHT more years after this one

I think I’d rather keep that deal than pay a 30 year old Leon $15M

Don’t know if Draisaitl has trade protection but I doubt he will resign in Buffalo. Look for Panthers to be on the….prowl….if he is potentially available

Hall isn't a center and Larsson was never a capable 1D. Not even sure he was a legit 2D. Which is why Chiarelli rightfully deserved criticism. I'd say the closest was Jones for Johansen and even that wasn't really between two legit 1C or 1D but they both ended up in those roles on the acquiring teams.

I asked last season after the Oilers got booted from the playoffs, would you rather have the two best players in hockey or a Stanley Cup. I know my answer, they should definitely trade Drai to round out the team better.

haha, this ship has sailed, it's probably too late to extract any meaningful value from Draisaitl, and he is most definitely going to walk when he's a free agent. My guess is actually MTL, where his girl is from, but wherever he decides to go, it sure as shiza isn't going to be EDM.

Wrong again genius. She is from Sudbury, Ont. And since she is an actress that does actually a fair amount of work she probably resides in LA.

That would be the hope. Most if not all cup champions have two big stars up front like McD/Drai. You move Drai for a dman and it will set the club back another 5 years as long as Oiler fans are ok with that.

Drai's new contract will not kick in until the 2025-26 season when the Oilers have a projected cap space of $39,000 million dollars so I am certain they can fit his increase that amount. He will be signed at an amount benefiting a player in the top 5 in the league as he currently is. Less than Mackinnon but more than Mathews so around $14 million/year.

Oil have a tough 1st rd ahead of them. If they get bounced - Ze German leaves - The Jesus leaves as a result. I think McDavid is itchin’ for a reason.

Evan Bouchard is from Oakville Ont, Alexander Barkov isn't from Russia, and wait for it, this one will blow your mind, neither Nazeem Kadri nor Juhjar Khaira are from overseas but Canada!

We all understand you have a hate on for him for some reason. What most don't understand is why. After he hooked up with Nurse's sister did he hook up with your wife/gf/sister/mom? The amount of criticism you put towards him suggests it's more than just some disappointment in his game play.

You are fool, she is here all the time (just maybe my wife knows her?).

The other reason you are a fool (I'm sure there are many), is that I've said countless times that Draisaitl is a guy you don't trade if you don't have McDavid, but WE DO HAVE MCDAVID (thought I'd mention that in case you have forgotten again in your pea brain). It's quite obvious that this team can't win unless one of the top two centres commits to a 200ft game, and our ELITE (yes, elite, top five even for Drai) centres do not play well defensively.

I would love for Draisaitl to commit to a 200ft game and win a cup for us, but I see this as unlikely. He still plays with a lot of immaturity, body language after giveaways, trying to do too much, changing on the back-check, flying the zone too early, getting pissy with reporters, etc. etc. He needs to grow up.

This thread is a bit of an insult to me to be honest, it's actually too late to trade him now. We could have received a king's ransom a year or two ago, but now people know that it's possible, and that he might walk, and.....wait for it...he's not as good (meaning as "uber-elite") as once thought.

I tell my clients that "you prepare your ship BEFORE you set sail, not during the storm". I never disliked Draisaitl, I've leaped off of my chair many times watching his goals, but he's an asset and a part of a business, the business of winning a cup. I just never really thought he'd be part of the solution, and wow....look at what we could possibly receive if he were "shopped" (not traded). It's too late. I could have traded him to you 2years ago for 1.25x his value and half of your team, and now you'd be dealing with this not me.
