Bergers will find a new team this summer, hopefully in a package for a decent RD.

It’s possible. There were some unhappy campers when we started talking about a departure. Regardless, it feels like we could easily replace half of the D (if you can move Holl’s contract) without much lament.

What's the deal with Berggren? Seems like he should be at least getting time ahead of Fischer.

I don’t know. Along with scoring Yzerman seemed to want to add size. Regardless, Berggren wasn’t thrilled to be in the AHL for most of the season. The “rumor” states that he turned down an extension offer. No one I know was in that alleged discussion. If you watch pressers after the trade deadline a couple writers asked specifically about JB. it looks/feels like something went sour. Zadina left (asked to be traded). It may have to do with usage/perceived value etc. we’ll hear a version of the story once he either extends or moves on.

Burgers has every right to be super sour, he is an NHL player that got buried in the AHL just because of his waiver status and trigger happy SY signing washed up veterans.

Here’s an article (not mine). I don’t know what happened. I will give Yzerman credit for turning over the roster but there are some bad deals. https://www.hockeyfeed.co...-red-wings-contract-offer

I think we already discussed this before, hockey writers is a garbage site with no sources and I wouldn't believe anything they ever post.

4th period and BVM report similar. Like I said. I wasn’t there but there’s a disconnect.

I have questions on Berggren too, but we don't have, nor will we ever have, the complete story. Clearly, he's talented and an NHL caliber player. Pro teams don't just walk away from talent for no reason, and the part we're not privy to, is that reason.

The reasons are unlimited. He may be a cancer in the locker room. Perhaps two or more years ago, his agent indicated he didn't want to be with the program and asked for a trade. Perhaps he brings his toys on road trips and plays race cars in his hotel room. Maybe he insisted on EDM music in the locker room. Maybe his apartment walls are covered in Lizzo posters. Maybe he thinks Lil Wayne is the world's greatest guitarist. Maybe he said the Miracle movie sucked. Maybe he's incapable of explaining why queue has four silent letters (everyone else knows why). We just don't know the complete story, but I don't believe it's about his output or talent.

OK, THAT was a great read, dude!! Especially the EDM & race car comment (Slap Shot, for those who may not get the joke, AWESOME movie).

Listen, there are many untold stories around the NHL, for sure. Something has gone sour and we'll never know. Interestingly, there were no takers during the TDL, if stories are to be believed he WAS mentioned as a trade candidate. Something's off here, and sadly, we'll not get any type of return for him... Guys like Johnny Burgers have a world of potential, but something in the system just doesn't mesh. Hope the bet for him, but having had these issue with Berggren, Vrana, and Zadina.... I dunno......

Petry out with an illness, Walman questionable, Husso a ways away and will require a game in GR, I guess Holl will have to save this team!!!!

I think that’s very well put. It was repeated that Yzerman keeps things “close to the vest” when I was talking to someone who usually has some input regarding a different issue. I don’t know how he does it, but the GM is able to keep things at arm’s length. If JB extends, we’ll likely hear, “that was the plan all along”. If not, some version of events will be released. Zadina was a bit of a surprise, Vrana was certainly a surprise. Yzerman said at the post deadline call that they had looked at an option but never ended up being able to finish the deal. No word on players involved.

I saw that Husso had a setback. Walman is the piece that concerns me most.

There is some kind of bug, it hit my friend’s family hard. Full flu symptoms and I’ll spare you the detail.
