It'll be a dog-fight to the end for sure. Regardless of the outcome, we stayed in the hunt since January. That's impressive. I think we got a few good pieces to the puzzle (Sprong for DANG sure!!!) and will a few kids pushin' the old farts along .

Listen, I KNOW I got wrapped up in the possibilities toward the TDL. Bottom line is, we improved over last year. We have got to address the G situation, desperately. Someone to be the main 'keeper for around 3yrs (Cossa/Augie need time, even when they hit the NHL....). To me, G is THE most glaring shortfall, followed VERY closely by a stud C and a strong D (I think Eddy's here to stay, kid is off-the-chain good...). I want Kane back, 2yrs would be nice, but we're going to need to be VERY sepective because the Cap increase isn't gonna be much (although, if it goes up $4m, give Kane 2x$4m, no impact to the salaries we need to dish out...just spit-ballin'...).

This is going to be a VERY interesting UFA/Summer.....

More than anything I’m seeing a fan base starved for a return to competitiveness. Yzerman did a near complete tear down of the roster. When he bought out Abdelkader I was shocked because I didn’t think they’d pay the money for someone not to play. This year is a step forward (especially in offense) but you’ve got bloggers/youtubers saying “Yzerman would be fired or on the hot seat if he was anyone else”. He’s not perfect, has signed some bad deals. But, isn’t afraid to turn over a good chunk of the roster. It’s tough to stay steady when the team seems either hot or cold. In all honestly, I do hope for either a buyout or trading package the opens up some D spots. We’ll hit that more in post season but I do hope the GM is somewhat busy and some prospects move the needle

Will do a full write up soon, but CNBC did an ESPN update with interviews from the head of ESPN and the ousted CEO at Disney (Bob Chapek).

Sprong and Berggren have been healthy scratched for 2 games, and the Wings have played better. I am starting to think it is not a coincidence!
Jacob Truscott if signed here would be one more log on the LD jam! I don't think he would like that......unless he is promised that others are to moved out. Wings have to also make a decision on whether to sign Cooper Moore soon!

I think IF JT looks at signing it will be the organization valuing him over some current players. The collegiate route to free agency is possibly something the GMs will review as players are getting bolder at just telling the team that drafted them that they’re going to market. I wonder if a compromise of allowing “X” amount of collegiate deals over the current 50 contract limit would be considered. A placeholder deal. I don’t blame players for going where they want to, they’re using the CBA to control their destination. It’s the sad reality that drafted players move on if a franchise can’t fit them in.

For Berggren and Sprong, this is half tough. Whatever “issues” Berggren and the team had will sort themselves out. Sprong, I love his shot and want to keep him if possible. But, is there a potential fit within the system that they’re looking at? I have no clue how many Grand Rapids players are being looked at as real options for next season. Edvinsson seems to be a “lock” assuming he’s healthy and ready to go

Unfortunately good question. Ovi’s clipping along better with some lineup changes. He had two today. I thought Wilson being gone would hit the team harder for 6 games.

This whole "Stevie Y's on the hot-seat.....juat tear it all back down.....Wing's re-build sucks...." line of chatter is sooooo misinformed. As we know, a re-build takes time. Yes, the fan-base is ravenous for a "return to glory". Welp, guess what, dear fans: It takes time. Lile I said, I own the fact that I got caught up in the WC race.....still am. But guess what? We crapped the bed last year, but we're STILL in the hunt this year. Will we be disappointed if we don't make it this year? YEP. But the goal was to improve, and we're still in the hunt.

Could this year have played out better? Sure. Could some of these contracts been better? Yep. Despite it all.... This. Is. A. Good. Team!

Got some holes to fill for sure. But this has been the most exciting season for 8-10yrs. It sucks to not make the SCPO, but the season ain't over yet. Could make it, might not. Either way....been a good season....

There’s been a serious shift in the team dynamic. Yzerman did so many “warning” interviews in the differences of Detroit and Tampa builds and tried to temper the time line. I forget that in the moment, it feels so much better or worse in the thick of things but the offseason or time between games settles things down. I do think it’s a big summer. Expectations have shifted.

I missed the game because I was at the UM-MSU game. Trey stole that game. UM was the more talented (but less disciplined) team. They dominated the first 5 or 6 minutes of OT but Trey shut them down. Munn was absolutely rocking, but Trey looked calm and cool as he always does. The primary difference in the game was Trey and MSU has a really, really good coach. Freshman defenseman Levshunov is a stud. He's projected to go anywhere from #2 to #5, but whichever team gets him is getting a future star in the NHL.

I could see the Wings keeping Trey in in East Lansing for one more season, then a year in Toledo, two in GR and then he'll be sharing W's with Cossa in five years. I think he and Cossa is going to eventually be a top goalie tandem in the league.

Here’s my only concern if they don’t at least take a serious look at ELC. The college route has the “free agent” loophole. More prospects seem to look at that option and then “notify” the team that they don’t intend to sign. Detroit had Petruzzelli move on, though the spot he thought he had in Boston didn’t work out and has moved on to the Leafs org. I don’t think that was a massive loss for Detroit, but we’re definitely seeing college players consider other options on where they want to play as opposed to who drafted them.

So....believe it has "something" to do with "access" to athletes, MAYBE. Surely with the institution of NIL, something "could" be said that could influence the decision to move on from the team which drafted the player. Not saying it's actually happening, mind you. But the college route is fraught with "access" and "general duscussions" about the future. Seems ripe for exploitation. Could be dramatically impactful for some players and drafting teams. Would hope it's not happeing, but some folks are, simply put, slime-balls.

Really would like to see Augie committ to DRW and start that journey, but am also a huge believer of education....

yeah, that’s the tough part. Getting a business or broadcasting degree goes a long way after a career where you may retire in your 30s.
