So far 40 flat minutes of hockey!

Still early after the deadline but the Flames came back to earth. Florida walked all over them. Hopefully a wake up call and play better against Carolina.

We’re improving our draft position. I’m afraid this is what to expect for the last part of the season, sure they’ll be some bright spots, but dropping in the standings isn’t a bad thing.

100% that young D was exposed this weekend.
We all saw this coming and it was the right move by the organisation to move on from the pending UFA's.
Pretty sure we pick somewhere in the 8 - 10 slots and we will get a very good prospect there.
Lots of CAP money to spend this summer too if we want.

Wolf will get his shot next year as he will no longer be waiver exempt.... Marky or Vlad will be playing elsewhere next year.

There are 2-3 forwards and 5 D on the current roster that are guaranteed nothing next year so there's plenty of options to play with the roster.
It's likely Marky is traded too that will also add options.

Well we all knew where this was heading. They didnt want to call it a rebuild but a retool. But when you have 4/5ths of your core pending UFA's at the same time & wouldnt sign & you wind up trading 80% of your core, its a rebuild. Lets hope it will be a rapid one, & in the cap age, it can be. These kids will be playing for jobs for next year. Conroy will need to know how active he will need to be in free agency. Gonna be an interesting summer. 1 more core piece that is up in the air is Marky. We'll see what happens.

Agreed.
Im good with a hard working young team even if they dont win a bunch as long as the roster is progressing.
Develop the young players and draft well for the next 3 year and we will be competitive when the new arena is ready.

I think you have to add Kadri as a piece that could be leaving. Only because he mentioned he was not interested in a rebuild. He has played very well so it is a possibility for a team that is in win-now mode and wants to bolster their strength down the middle.

The good thing is, if the defence is going to be this leaky then I cannot forsee Markstrom being too picky about waiving his no trade clause.

I do think the best thing that could happen to this team is a couple top 5 picks.
