No question we should not be buyers.
Staying as is with a prove that you belong here approach would be okay.
I believe that if the GM has assets that he does not plan to sign or value he should find a way to move them.

I’d be more than happy to see the following be moved out:
-Kostin
-Holl
-Petry
-Chiarot
-Copp
-Perron

Not because I dislike them as players (other than Holl and Chiarot, because I do dislike them).

This isn’t just aimlessly shaving cap/roster spots, however. If you make the correct moves, re-sign the correct players, you would be looking to move up Kasper, Berggren, Edvinsson, and add a piece on the back end that’s not completely worthless… I’m not saying all of the Wings D-men are worthless, but if someone is going to be a DEFENSIVE liability, it better because they are making plays on offense… and I don’t think I need to plead the case that the majority of the current roster of Defensemen aren’t exactly Offensive superstars.

Re-sign Raymond, Seider, Kane, Sprong, bring in an NHL top-4 Dman (Not a red wings level top-4 Dman), probably shed a goalie contract to and either bring up Cossa if he is determined to be ready, or bring in someone short term to backup Lyon.

I like Perron, but if it comes to keeping Sprong or Perron it’s not a question. Sprong. If they could offload the Holl contract amen. Still not sure what’s going on with Berggren. All crickets.

Amen. There was a town hall Tuesday I sat through. The emphasis on putting ESPN to full streaming was reiterated and they finally mentioned the NBA renewal. Not a lot of confidence. “We hope to continue the relationship” but it was a softball Q and A. Didn’t mention competing bids and the NBA ask. This is a bigger deal and will come up in next month’s call. It’s finally getting some attention in some of the outlets. We’ve talked about it for almost a year. If that deal goes, very bad for ESPN.

Same. The waiver wire may end up with an interesting name or two by day’s end. If there’s a no risk grab i don’t mind that if you can move out a piece that won’t re sign and make that deal.

Wouldn’t make me mad at all if ESPN hit the skids, and went under! It began with the admonishment of Gary Thorne and Bill Clement during the 5 overtime shedding of sport jackets, ties, etc. They added a lot to the broadcast and were jettisoned shortly after. They were a great tag team in the booth.

Then ESPN went woke! Entering the political arena, and pushing an agenda. They have no business doing that. Programming and games without bias is what we seek, nothing more. It baffles the mind that some idiot on tv, in the movies, or sports, think they should tell us what to do, or how to think. It would be a blessing to see them go bust!

As far as the VPN issue, I use one for security. Would be a shame for them to be legislated away!

As always, I appreciate Jeremy bringing to light, the current broadcast and viewer grievances. No one else here seems to want to address the elephant in the room. Keep up the good work!

Agree about ESPN... Gary Thorne and Bill Clement were awesome. As was the late Dave Strader (best play-by-play guy of all time). Those guys were all fantastic announcers. I do like Buucigross as well.

Thanks for that! The shifting tides are bizarre. Almost every company (except NETFLIX) reported losses again for streaming but it’s full steam ahead because now they’re losing because of cord cutting. You find out some of the “talking heads” make 10, 25 or even 30 million and the lost revenue becomes a big issue. We all had to pay for stuff we didn’t watch for a long time. The shift is making it harder for stations to ignore diminishing views.

Only player out there I'm still intriged by is Pavel Buchnevich. He's only 25. He's not a center or defenseman... but Yzerman has done really well with trades involving St. Louis blues and their GM Armstrong. My fear is the asking price would be pretty high. Probably not worth parting with a first round pick though IMO (which it would probably require to get the deal done).

I’m right with you. Prices went down for a few deals to happen now. If there’s a pre draft deal made I don’t want to chuck a first at it. Unfortunately I’ll be glued to the coverage where it will probably be another year where there’s three tables of pundits with nothing to talk about except for what happened earlier in the week. “Most people shopped early, but here’s how that impacts things going forward” etc.

They can try, but will just get a middle finger back, people and companies will find a way to just continue using it like nothing ever happened.

March 8th is “ 2024 NHL TRADE DEADLINE DAY “.
in Detroit it should have a different name, “ BAGGAGE CHECK OUT DAY “

Buyers ? Sellers ? Don’t be foolish Stevie, Get rid of the non future baggage.
If you back into the playoffs, enjoy the cup of coffee.
It will only be a waste of eight days anyway.
If you miss the playoffs, no sane Red Wing fan on this planet will be surprised.
Come on DRW fans, admit it, all the lipstick in the world isn’t making this
Pig Team a playoff contender.
( I call my beloved Red Wings…..Dem Bums….but I will always love them )

DO THE RIGHT THING, PUT THE FOR SALE SIGN ON ;
Copp, Veleno, Perron, Fischer, Holl, Kostin, Chiarot,
ADD ANY OR ALL GOALTENDERS.
OF HONOURABLE MENTION, Thank you Patrick Kane, you truly are a Gem and Steve Yzerman should do the right thing for both the Detroit Organization and Patrick Kane. Get a useful return for Mr. Kane and at the same time, give this fine Gentleman and future HOF Superstar in the twilight of his magnificent career, the opportunity to win another Stanley Cup with a contender.
If he so desires, otherwise keep him.
PLEASE, ANYWHERE BUT TORONTO.

They can try to ban VPNs but alternatives will be available within 24 hours. There are already alternatives teed up and ready to go. If Apple, XBox (Microsoft), PlayStation (Sony) or Nintendo can’t lock down their platforms, there’s no possible way a law passed by a bunch of corrupt parasites will lockdown, what is essentially the entirety of the internet.

The people it hurts are the legit VPN companies and users. Beyond that, even with work around, the risk gets to an insane level. As with tik tok, someone is confident they can enforce it. I don’t know risk
Vs reward but at some point that’s a decision for every person. If it goes wrong is it worth whatever penalties have been set up? Just keep an eye on this and see where it goes. All I can do is pass on info.

dont think the wings will do anything at the deadline.
that being said, yzerman has a ton of work to do with the defense.
trading for guys like petry and signing justin holl isn't going to do it.

Ah... yes. You're correct. Just double-checked. For some reason I was thinking he was 25. Definitely would not give up a first round pick for him knowing that. Good player but Yzerman would need to get him at a good price to make it worth his time... similar to the other deals he's done with St. Louis.

Absolutely. It seems like Edvinsson has a spot, Sandin pelikka needs to be healthy and probably a season in GR. Not sure where they’re at on Tuomisto.

I know in the current game you can’t get “muscle” for muscle’s sake. Still been a rough couple games where it would be good to see the ability to step up in a rough contest

they dont have it, they dont have any answer for Makar/McKinnon. Just like they had no answer for Reinhart/Barkov.

they need to find a way to add a star or two.

I've been to a lot of Griffins game this season. Edvinsson is a lock to make the team. He gets a ton of ice time and he really stands out. He's the best defensive prospect I've seen in GR in over a decade. He pretty much does it all for GR.

Tuomisto and Albert Johansson are both good defensive prospects. They're both 23 but they are not even close to the caliber defensemant that Edvinsson is. I do like Tuomisto's size (6'5"). These guys are part of the reason GR is having their best season in years. Wings have a logjam of good defensive prospects... we'll see how they pan out.

Mazur has really picked up his game... I can definitely see him in Detroit in the next couple years. Same thing with Kasper... he's putting up points alot more now. He had a bit of slow start, but now he's really playing well.
