That was embarrassing. Just, yuk. Not even sure what to say; 54 SOG???? Oh, and ya wanna know another tid-bit of sunshine??? Looks like we're out of the Chycrun race...

I desperately want to make the SCPO. This team, the city, the state.....they need it. BUT, maybe a few pieces here n there? Wonder what's going through Kane's mind now?

Wow.... that is the response after the Florida debacle..... Lalonde and every player should be concerned about the immediate future..... you'd have thought with a sea of red and a chant of let's go red wings in Colorado of all places that this team would have had some blood pumping for this game..... embarrassing and unacceptable..... the Islanders are coming because they are playing meaningful hockey.... the Wings look a mess, again inconsistent with no structure or sense of a response to anything thrown at them.... Id love to see the Wings back in the playoffs but they may not make it.... Stevie could have a busy couple of days because honestly if I'm in his shoes I'm beside myself and I'm angry at this point..... hes done his part, the players are not there and the coach does not coach.....

Vegas made the 2024 1st to Calgary conditional!
*Conditions: If traded by March 10, 2024 OR if the pick is top 10, Calgary will instead receive 2026 1st round 'VGK'
This is because Vegas may use this pick to try to acquire Guentzel!!!!!!! (or maybe Buchnevich) Ain't the LTIR loophole grand!!!!!!

The Wings D and G were completely exposed last night! This is what to expect when playing a true contender! The Avs did not get their new guys yet!
Wings cannot compete with their backend! I don't see how they fix it this TDL. It may prove to be too costly. Trade a couple D-men out (Holl and Ghost) and bring up Eddy.
Trade Perron. They can still make the Play-offs but they will not be contenders!

Gents...this is playoff season. Last week, they played one of the hottest teams in the league. It was close, but they lost. Then they faced the best team in the league last Saturday, and they got smoked. Last night they played one of the most talented teams in the league, with a few of the top players in the league, without their captain and leading scorer, and they got smoked. This Saturday they play the defending champs, and it probably won't go well for them.

They have 12 games left. Of those, 7 are teams they can and should beat. The other 5 are a toss-up, but teams they should not be expected to beat this time of year. If they can squeak into the playoffs, great. It'll be good for the city, good for the team and good experience for the young players. If anyone thought they were going to beat FLA, COL and LV at THIS time of the year, you're delusional. Those teams are beatable in games 1 through 60, after that, the game changes and Detroit is not built to win those games yet.

Their young players are getting valuable experience right now. They are playing games that would have been meaningless to them in the past few years. I hope they get in, it'll be good for the rebuild, but I'm under no illusion that they could "surprise" anyone in the SCPO. Keep your heads up, they're headed in the right direction.

Chin up, people! We are still in the mix. This is the second reminder this year of how important Larkin is to the team. We took way too many penalties. When was the last time you saw Seider shoot the puck over the glass…. Twice? Never.

I completely agree! Have these been disappointing losses? Absolutely, but we are still sitting in the first wildcard position. I know the games that lie ahead will be tough ones, but they will be tough for the teams chasing us as well. And those teams have their flaws as well. So let's not push the panic button just yet.

I am incredibly curious to see what moves the Wings make before 3:00 pm tomorrow. Yzerman's ability to keep things quiet usually leaves us feeling surprised when he does make his moves. I have a funny feeling a move is coming that none of us will see coming.

It has to be a move that is keeping the rebuild going because this team will not get past the 1st round. So trade some UFA's for prospects, young NHLer's or picks. Don't give up futures for rentals or older vets. Only give up prospects (bundled) for better prospects. Not easy, but stay the course, for the future is bright!

Yeah, I don't think the season's over by a long shot. This is still a good team. Room to grow? Absolutely. What I saw last night was a team trying to find a rudder. Larkin steers the ship, for sure. But someone has to step up and take charge. Not just the physical play, either: there needs to be a sound voice of reason that's the leader. I mean, we DO mis Larkin's style of play, but that's not the be-all, end-all.

I'd be ok with a few names moving, but would be wary of the cost to making the SCPO; I honestly think that's what the team & leadership are working to maintain. That being said, the last chance to impact this season is tomorrow, so what moves can be made?

I still believe in this team. We're *this* close, y'all......

I agree, it was a good lesson for the team to see what Colorado and Florida look like. But, they can use this as fuel to finish the season well and understand what the next step looks like. Not a time to throw it in, just wonder how management viewed the last couple of games and what they are thinking. It was a rough watch.

Yeah, last year when in a play-off spot, the Wings were defeated soundly twice by the Sens, a bottom feeder. Y then threw in the towel. This year they were defeated in the past 2 games by 2 teams that may very well face each other in the SCF! Huge difference! Just stay the course and get what is good for the club's future, not a play-off run!

I’ve said for the past few weeks that if a deal too good to pass up comes, go for it. But, Detroit is still in a spot and has a decent positive differential. They are in a better spot but this is still likely a first round knockout. It’s not fire sale time, but if you were on the fence about a deal in management (and that’s what I don’t know) the past couple games and the knowledge of what you won’t have for a couple of weeks in Larkin that may be enough impetus to go ahead on a deal for picks/prospects for an expiring contract. I’ll have to pull up last year but for I think they were already on the outside looking in with not near the offensive production

One more thought, Bert had turned down the deal they offered. It may have been better or the same as what he took from Toronto but with Term. Yzerman knew it was a flat market. Instead, they got Debrincat and Compher and those additions seem to be upgrades

March 8th is “ 2024 NHL TRADE DEADLINE DAY “.
in Detroit it should have a different name, “ BAGGAGE CHECK OUT DAY “

Buyers ? Sellers ? Don’t be foolish Stevie, Get rid of the non future baggage.
If you back into the playoffs, enjoy the cup of coffee.
It will only be a waste of eight days anyway.
If you miss the playoffs, no sane Red Wing fan on this planet will be surprised.
Come on DRW fans, admit it, all the lipstick in the world isn’t making this
Pig Team a playoff contender.
( I call my beloved Red Wings…..Dem Bums….but I will always love them )

DO THE RIGHT THING, PUT THE FOR SALE SIGN ON ;
Copp, Veleno, Perron, Fischer, Holl, Kostin, Chiarot,
ADD ANY OR ALL GOALTENDERS.
OF HONOURABLE MENTION, Thank you Patrick Kane, you truly are a Gem and Steve Yzerman should do the right thing for both the Detroit Organization and Patrick Kane. Get a useful return for Mr. Kane and at the same time, give this fine Gentleman and future HOF Superstar in the twilight of his magnificent career, the opportunity to win another Stanley Cup with a contender. If he so wishes, otherwise keep him.
PLEASE, ANYWHERE BUT TORONTO.

Jeremy, it was really rough to see. Every team is going to run into bumps. Even the good teams have weaknesses. Colorado’s record on the road is .500. Florida is peaking early, which sometimes is a bad thing going into the playoffs. Teams are loading up. We all know the history of the playoffs. It seems like the hottest goalie carries a team. I still believe we can play shut down Hockey, but Coach can’t seem to stick to one strategy.

I was shocked to see in the absence of Larkin, Lalonde not reuniting the compher, copp and Rass line. Spreading out the offense works on middle tier teams, but the top tier teams, I don’t think so

I agree, Kane proved he's still a star in the league and one of the best playmakers in the world. If Detroit can get future value for him and he has a chance to win another cup, I say go for it!

I really like the drop in. Well put. Beyond the score, there was a portion early on where the score at 1-1, 2-1 even 2-2 didn’t reflect the play. Colorado looked so much better prepared. One frustration I do have is that teams going to COL will often go the day before to do 2 sets of practice at the altitude. Does that change the game last night? Probably not. But LaLonde felt a bit short sighted by not getting out there sooner. If this was due to a CBA/NHLPA issue anyone can chime in and let me know. But, Detroit looked gassed and overwhelmed. The final shot differential was really bad. Beyond a goalie carrying a team, even if two guys averaging .905 or .910 that differential is going to burn you. 54-29 feels like something beyond. I agree on splitting up a good line.

I’d for sure ask him what he wanted to do. He’s got that rare spot of having 3 cups and a hall of fame career where he can take it or leave it. Very interesting scenario

I disagree on Kane. He has meshed really well and couple that with the attractiveness of 2024-5 UFAs considering Detroit, he is an asset to hold onto. We are still in the mix.

I feel that a major issue is coaching. The constant tinkering is preventing the opportunity to solidify identity. Lalonde is soft. I’ll say it. I like the guy, but he is probably an assistant coach at the NHl level. Of course I’m wishing for a coach like Joel Quenneville.

No need to say "anywhere but Toronto" when you have already said to allow him the opportunity to win another Stanley Cup. A trade to Toronto would only get him somewhere between 4 and 7 playoff games this year.
