It was a weird click bait. They basically asked the question then answered, “no” in terms of this season. Then said, “maybe in the post season as a replacement for Kane if he’s not back”. It was just trying to get a story out where it doesn’t sound like there is one. But, they’re putting it out so you get asked.

It’s going to be a rumor fiesta! Calgary did squash Markstrom trade talk “so now they can focus on Hanifin” as one writer put it. Who knows. Get some popcorn!

Oilers waived Sam Gagner. Maybe Y wants him? I do think he will be claimed by somebody. Maybe the Hawks.

I agree on click bait. If you already knew they weren’t looking at TDL then why name the article in a way that indicates that? Then someone says, “there’s a rumor that Rust is going to Detroit” because they didn’t read the article. It’s going to be that way through Friday. I really don’t know what pieces have been looked at outside of that one call to Ottawa. This isn’t a year to go all in, so it would have to be either an offload or someone you can keep “a hockey trade”. Pittsburgh has me fascinated because ownership is unhappy. New owner and no playoffs.

Wow, hope it’s a good ride for him. Rough year for Caps

Rust would be nice, but am seeing PIT saying "Nope". Am seeing Jason Zucker was pulled from tonight's game for trade reasons, DRW listed as a potential landing spot. Zuck's really turned into a defensively gifted forward....sure hope so because he barely pulls 28%FOW (given around 140 face-offs contested...), but is much better at take-aways vs give-aways (340-ish to 290-ish), tons of hits & a respectable numbers of blocks. All I've ready indicates he's a very responsible defensive forward. Not sure where he'd slot, probably 4C IF we got him....

Czarnik being called up vs Berggren? Back to this discussion, I guess. The ONLY reason for Czarnik instead of Berggren would be desensive responsibility. Johnny Burgers is an offensive forward, that's his calling-card. But what do we need more of? I would love to see JB called up, but down the stretch we need more defensive-minded play in order to narrow the GF vs GA gap.....It's a tough call because Berggren has more than earned a call-up and was a point/game guy when he was called up at the beginning of the season. IF we're going to trade him, would be nice to showcase his abilities...

I just think The Captain's gonna like for a more defensive-minded player because our D isn't on solid ground; we need to be defensive going into the SCPO, if you ask me......

There is a human element to every lost job, position..... we cheer for our team and enjoy the success and level criticism when we feel it applies.... Stevie has a job to do, survey the roster and pay who needs paid and keep the team from cap hell and also keep them competitive while attempting to solve weaknesses.... its a business at the end of the day, I've seen entire shifts let go in my industry... men with families and bills, it sucks but it happens.... I don't see much happening this deadline, but if anything happens I gotta trust the captain and his plan...he inherited a mess and it's now gaining traction as a playoff contender...... let's go Wings..

I wasn’t happy to see Mantha leave town, Vrana wasn’t having a great year and Mantha had two seasons over 20goals, but falls off. .The fan in me that wanted that big forward with good hands. I get embarrassed as Vrana lights it up scoring like crazy. It looks like Yzerman picked DC’s pocket. Then the next year. Depending on who you hear from there are 3 or 4 reasons for it, but after a surgery Vrana doesn’t start the season and the top line doesn’t materialize. Mantha holds on as Vrana leaves town. Mantha finally hits 20 again this year and has a chance to play for a team that just lifted a cup. He leaves a Caps team that really took a hit with Backstrom being gone. Ovi headed to a career low in goals. I wanted Mantha to work out in Detroit. Then I accepted that it looked like Vrana was going to be a part of moving in the right direction. Vrana has had a rough run. Want nothing but the best for both players, I just have been wrong at every turn in this and hope Mantha gets a good run with Vegas as the year winds down.

Oh for sure. I was in corporate sales for a long time. Either you move up or get moved out. So many jobs gone around Detroit. Yzerman has done so much to improve. I do trust that he works hard to find the right fit. Also knows cap is going to get restrictive after raises/extensions. I don’t envy anyone who has to do that juggling.
