Another domino falls as Ilya Lyubushkin heads to Toronto in a 3 team deal that involved Anaheim retaining 50% and Carolina retaining 25%. It looks like a 3rd round pick went to Anaheim and a 6th to Carolina. Toronto also received the rights to Kirill Slepets (a 2019 pick that is in the KHL).

Yeah, an off night. So what? From the beginning of the game, the boys looked off. We lost ground. Maatta was stellar (still think he's a hand-in-glove fit...), good for him.

It's unrealistic to win out the season. That being said, some teams Iwould expect us to beat more than others for sure. Kanewas on fire, he & The Cat are lights-out...LIGHTS. OUT. Throw Larkin in with his buzzsaw skating? 1st line ALL DAY.

Ok, wash of the dirt, put your big girl drawers on and set a better game plan for the Beasts of the East. Big Cat's are coming and they think Red Wings are a snack......let's see what transpires, shall we?!?!?

Ilya Lyubushkin is mainly a 3rd pairing gritty rock of a guy. Not a very mobile defender but nevertheless a good depth guy to have. I am a little disappointed that the Leafs could not aim higher. But there is still a week left. Hopefully I stay disappointed in the Leafs!
What is more curious is the fact that we have another contender retaining salary for a rival! Is NJ's and Carolina's motive to pave ways for future trades?

The Wings faced a better goalie last night and he was very good, and a better defense. Better back ends win lower scoring games. They also played the Isles game, lower event and tighter checking. and the Isles fore check was very effective.

Think you nailed it. Sorokin was really good last night and we were just out-defended. Kane shoulda nailed that shot late in the 3d, but what agreat game overall. It did show, however, how badly we need a grinder or 2 on the back end. I'm not upset at the game; can't win 'em all, but woulda been nice to walk away with 2 more points. Sorokin's really good, of that there's no doubt. Maatta played like a beast.

Losing against the Ilses is a kick in the 'nards, for sure. We're at the point where the "easy" teams are playing for their lives, NYI are gunning for a SCPO slot so they're hungry. They played a pressured defense that stymied the Wings. Gotta learn to overcome those types of nights. FLA is going to be a rip-roarin' slobber-knocker. Gotta put this one behind us and buckle down. Losing 2 in a row can be the beginning of a slide out of contention if we're not careful.....

According to ESPN's Emily Kaplan, the Detroit Red Wings are proactively seeking trade opportunities for defensemen Justin Holl and Shayne Gostisbehere as the NHL trade deadline looms.

She made the announcement that Detroit was shopping Dmen a couple days ago. If Ghost has said he wants to move on or wants more $ totally understand. I assume you have to staple Holl to something else. There’s at least one other right side D in the mill.

I don’t think they’d have to do to much to move ghost. Seems a shame if that’s the case

They definitely faced a better goalie, but letting in 4 on 27 shots is pretty well below the expected sv%. It was a good back and forth for sure and congrats to Maata for a heck of an offensive game for him

Yeah, something seemed “off” with the guys as they skated out. Usually more smiles and energy etc. they need to do their best to bounce back quickly and against a tough opponent. We’ll see how the weekend treats them.

Don’t fret too much. Speculation is passed off as rumor far too many times
