Verbeek, with his $39 million of salary cap room, has some plans for free agency that kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT. Verbeek: "We have a number of spots we plan to address. We want to add to our forward group on the wing and also help our blue line. We are in a good spot with the cap and we will be able to be flexible with that space.”

Now this I like to hear.

Yep! He HAS to have a good day, or there is a very real possibility that the Ducks will be even worse this upcoming season. This is the main thing he will be judged on, IMO.

At least 2 Solid D men... and 2 Solid finishing Forwards. No scrubs like well you know...

I'd like to see Nathan Bastian for 3rd line depth big guy can skate and has ability. Geekie perhaps... Jost.. Graves on the backend.

and at least one hammer on the backend...

Writing was on the wall for Comtois when Eakins publicly questioned his work ethic a few months back. Benoit is a bit of a surprise because the free agent market is a little thin.

Ducks should be able to find some secondary scoring and grit for the middle/bottom six and some depth on D, but the market is thin, and I think it’s unlikely that the few top end guys available will choose to be part of a rebuild. It’s possible to upgrade on D from last year (it would be hard not to), but I think it’s unlikely the Ducks will sign a top pairing guy.

Also, look for at least one short-term overpay to someone the Ducks can flip at the deadline. The one advantage the Ducks have is cap space, so they can overpay on one or two guys short-term.

Fantilli signs after telling Ducks he probably would go back to UM. Carlsson looking better and better as a pick...

I admit I was wrong on this... Rock on Leo...

Hoping for Graves and Soucy on the backend...

Bertuzzi and Geekie or Bastian up front.

The message is don't f*** with Zellweger... I like it; 3-year term that gives other guys time to develop, and Ducks could afford to overpay a bit for some protection.

I bet Carlsson ends up the better player. Carlsson is very smart two way player, Fantilli is an athletic reaction type player. He doesn't anticipate as well as Carlsson apparently.

Need at least one more hardass on the backend - and would like to see some muscle up front as well. Along with skill.

Following the Trotz model for today at least...

Nasty older D man coupled with a aging F who has winning pedigree and gas left in the tank...

Money seems a little large... But if Tampa wanted him back .. I'm cool with it.

Makes us better for sure. And he is no wall flower.

Of course a pair of clowns over at the Athletic couldn't pile on this fast enough.. the AK signing .. while blowing all the other deals as great...

Yeah why wouldn't AK want to play with Z or McT or Carlsson .. gee.. what a drag...
