Loved the trade from the Jets perspective. They got three players that will be in the opening night line up. Very ironic that the 2nd round pick they got in the deal is actually the habs pick of all teams.

Can’t wait to see what assets Chevy gets for Hellebuyck and Scheifele. With Lucuis, Lambert and McGroarty not to far away. As a season ticket holder of 12 years, very excited to see what this team will look like in the next couple of years.

Going to be very interesting to see what they do at the C position.
1. Do they plan on using Vilardi or Perfetti there?
2. Scheifele needs to go. Needs to bring back a C
3. Do they re-sign Namestnikov to fill one of the top two positions?
4. Do they plan on dipping into the FA for a C. Buying out Wheeler, lots of $$$ room?
5. Sign the FA for 1-2 years until McGroarty, Lambert, Luzius, Kupari etc are ready?
6. Will they draft a C today - for future needs?
7. Any other suggestions?

Maybe they put a package together that includes Scheifele and brings back Elias Lindholm? Just a thought. Signing Lindholm to an extension prolly more/less same as trying to get Scheifele to an extension.

lets hope they learn from the Scmidt/Dillon mistakes!!! dont bring in Centers on long contracts that are not very good and are just going to block our young players!!!
lets give Perfetti and Villardi a chance first. Let Lambert and Lucious play center on the Moose this season. thats 4 potential centers ready for the Jets in only a year!!!

Chevy got significantly more for PLD than most people expected, given the tight spot he was in, so that is a win.

How that plays out next year will be interesting.

I'm very good with that!

If bringing back a centre, considering the centres who might be available, one or two year contract max.

We need an upgrade at RD - Capt Obvious here!

As a Ducks fan .. this trade pleases me... PLD will quickly burn out the LA locker room with his antics.

Add to the fact Blake got taken to the woodshed by Chevy here... 4 players... 3 top 9 guys and a solid pick for a malcontent..

This trade for sure solidifies the Jets top 9 and allows for more moves.

Helly to Buffalo for a nice package and or Ottawa for a nicer package.

Sign whoever for goal. Plenty of options out there.

No Lindholm. He’s a solid 2C about to head for decline years.

Just move Scheifele. Hit up Boston for Swayman and Frederic.

Didn’t blow the doors off with a future all-star likely, but this greatly helps the below average forward depth moving forward.

It seems to be a good trade for the Jets.
If the rumors are correct and the Jets are poised to trade Scheifele and Helly they need to get back a top center and a big, physical top 4 d-man.
They need to hit a homerun signing 2 top UFA goalies as they don't seem to have any NHL ready ones in the minors.
However hopefully these trades will make Helly want to stay.

So Entry Draft day! So this begs the question "Who are we going to draft today at #18?"

Would really love to see the Jets get two picks in this strong draft. Can they acquire a 2nd 1st rd'er through a trade or dropping back - some teams like Colorado and St.L have two picks after us - maybe do a flop?

But if they remain at #18 - I know you go with best player but not much difference between #18 and say, #32 - so I would prefer a RD or C.

Now if the top 3 d-men are gone (Reinbacher, Sandin-Pellikka and Willander), I go with a C if possible, but not a done deal. My possibilities:
1. Moore
2. Perreault (a W)
3. Stenberg - C (also a W)
4. Yager
5. Sale - LW

Or maybe move back (?) and take a flyer on the Swedish centres Edstrom and Wahlberg? Thoughts?

After thinking about this trade some more, I am underwhelmed with the return.

We essentially got a second line right winger that has had challenges remaining healthy. We already have one of those.

We got a third line checking winger that is good defensively. He can also pot some points. This is something we don't have.

We got a 23 year old prospect that could be Sabastian Aho, but is more likely Jesse Pulujarvi. Could be the next Manalainen... So I think we already have that too.

We got a second round pick, which the Jets rarely hit on. Only Dylan Samberg has been able to get a regular role in the line-up after 11 drafts.

The only good thing I see about this trade is that we will not have to pay PLD that contract. Which in itself may be a good thing.

i tend to agree with ULTIMATEJET on this one...they always say the team that gets the best player won the trade- well, that's definitely Dubois.
Having said that , both PLD and Vilardi have room to grow their game and put up bigger numbers. The key to this trade will be if Vilardi stays healthy- the guy has a SICK release and has great hands in the slot. He could really blossom.
As a Bruins fan (Jets a close second), very glad to see PLD not end up in Montreal and all the Habs fans who have all said "Don't give anything up for PLD when we can just get him for free in a year" - SUCK IT!! Enjoy Alex Newhook
Here's hoping Chevy can deliver some impact players with the Scheiff and Helly trades. Go Jets

There are those who wouldn't be happy if we got McDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard for PLD. They'd rather complain cause that's what they do best.

Surely you're not one of those, are you?.

I heard that the Jets may bundle Helly and Scheifele to get an even better return. But what team and what players would a move like that bring the Jets?

Detroit could make it work for sure, Buffalo absolutely.
$$-wise there are a few teams that could handle 55 and Helly but would be shocking to see them move together.

I think both guys end up in eastern conference

55- Boston, Detroit, Buffalo, Pitty

Helly - Detroit, NJD, Buffalo and Pitty

After seeing how we got Pionk’d for Trouba, I think we may have gotten Pionk’d again. If we got the package you were mentioning, I would be nominating Chevy for executive of the century.

And, if you could please tell me what inspires your confidence in Chevy, I would really like to know what it is.

What package did I mention for PLD, I forget. Wasn't something like Vilardi, Iafallo (or Arvidsson), Kaliyev (or Kupari), Pinelli and J. Spence (or a 2nd)? Missed on Pinelli who I read that the Jets were trying to get.

Didn't I read some place that you would have traded PLD straight up for Byfield?

Chevy? I like the fact that he has kept a exciting, competitive for the most part team here in small market Wpg for what, about 12 years. No, no Stanley Cups but a lot of teams are in that category. Did you know 11 NHL teams have never won The Cup?

Oh Chevy, I swear at him to, much too patient for me. But I don't rag on management at every single turn. As I said before, Chevy is now otc! But I do enjoy your comments - but different strokes for different folks.

If the Jets stay at #18, who do they draft? If it's some 5'9 LH d-man my TV may not survive.

Can't see it happening but you would need some GM that likes to make "splashes" so yes, Buffalo and Ottawa would qualify. Toronto and Pitts too?

Would think if this happened it would be after July 1 - re-sign and trade.

Problem with Ottawa and Buffalo, can't see Helle or Scheif wanting to play there for 7-8 years.

I actually think the following trade could work with Buffalo:

To BUF: Connor Hellebyuck

To WPG: Eric Comrie 13th OA pick

Jets could then sign Broissant as Comrie’s back-up.

I would have done that in a heartbeat. Scheifele was 21 when he finally found his game. Byfield is one year younger. I remember when Jets fans would rag on 55 in his early days. I think Byfield represents the future and could have been our stud center in a year or two.
