Would Nashville be willing to trade Jeannot? I was thinking of Kravtsov/Jeannot one for one deal could make sense. Seems to me Nashville may be a little starved of some offensive upside, while having an excess of toughness, like Jeannot

Just an idea Ive been floating around. Both pending RFAs and probably get similar AAV

Thanks for the comment!

Interesting idea. I've always liked Kravtsov watching him play overseas. He definitely will be lower on the totem poll due to the offensive talent in NY. It's definitely nice to see the parts of the league (like yourself) take notice of Jeannot, He's a horse. Just listen how Jeff Marek still talks about him from time to time about his time in the WHL. Now this year has been no where near as promising as last year, so I am not sure where his value is currently. But I do think teams are interested. Just not sure if Nashville would want to give him up. He is an RFA this summer as is Kravtsov. I don't hate the idea but I think more would be needed than just a one-for-one. I've never been a fan for those types of deals personally, especially when the Preds should be making asset trades to facilitate a rebuild if selling is the actual option taken. Weber for Subban was a rare exception to my rule.

I like the fit for both players and teams. I’d add pick, rd 3 or something

How much would Jeannot get is my question tho? Anything more than 2 mill is pushing it for us next year. Same with Krav but I think his number would be lower than 2 mill. He could be a stud in a different org and with a fresh start

Preds are in a tough position. Moving Saros, as you suggested, would be seismic. Preds as sellers, in general terms, has possible merit but, of course, no one will know until further down the road. Always a crap shoot to a degree, isn't it.

My hunch is that DP will retire at some point relatively soon but that's just a wild guess. If so, I'd think he'd probably be given some kind of emeritus status within the org. He'll be 73 next week - is he ready to step back or is he one of those who wants to continue his role indefinitely? I don't see the current ownership group challenging that status quo. It's too big a group and they prefer not to make waves of any kind.

Back to Saros and other possible year-end moves, it's not DP's usual behavior to be a seller but he's due for one of his big, unexpected splashy moves so maybe there is big drama about to happen. Then again...

As long as the Preds are in sniffing distance of the playoffs, Poile isn't going to sell. Well all know that... Debating 'what if's' is fun, but we all know what the script is here. I'm not even sure what the Preds could sell that they could even get anything substantial for. Saros is the one piece Poile does have he could move he could probably get a great return on. I have mixed feelings about the idea of moving him. Goalies are like QB's in the NFL, it's hard to find a good one, so when you do you want to hold on to them... On the other hand, most NHL goalies tend to have short windows where they can go from elite to up-and-down frighteningly quick so... I highly doubt Poile would even consider it though, especially since most nights it feels like Saros is almost single handedly keeping Hynes employed.

Well said. Analyzing the individual games has become difficult. It's the same story night in, night out. I wish change would come in whatever fashion, but I unfortunately agree with your assessment. It is likely we pick up a random depth defenseman at the deadline in the aspirations of making a first round appearance once more.

A few more games as bad as last night's pathetic showing against LV and the Preds won't be anywhere near sniffing distance.
