Panarin didn't say he would not sign an extension with the CBJ - he just said he didn't want to talk right now.
I think he wants to see what $$ the market sets on July 1, and then consider negotiating with JK. I also think that $9MM/yr for 6 yrs, or $9.5 for 5yrs, gets it done. The cap will be jumping up, and he'd rightly so be the highest paid Bluejacket skater for the next several years.

No chance the deal is less than 8 years. Jarmo has said he wants to sign Panarin to an 8 year deal. Would not be surprised if it is 8x10. CBJ fans need to get used to the idea of Bob and Bread being about $20 mil of cap space, like it or not.

Okay - I'll go 8 yrs on Panarin for $9.5 - 10MM/yr - he'll be 34 when it ends. But I'm not confident about giving Bob 8 yrs. It's a tough call with a 38 y.o. keeper !!

Men,

Since quotes are not working, let me say that I agree with you. We have a good deep team, but it seems that you have to have two or three superstar players to get over the hum in the playoffs, especially in our division.

Pay Breadman 10 million, pay Bob 9 million unless he improves his playoff results this coming season, and go sign Tavaras for $10 million. Then find a way to keep everyone else happy and have a pipeline of young and cheap players to replace people when they get too expensive.

Nice blog Paul.
