I think the Leafs will stand pat and draft a player and most people will lose their poop for not trading Bozak, Kapanen and a 2nd for a deal that just isn't there.

I think the hoopla regarding trotz being the reason Tavares resigns in NY is over rated bullpoop really. All along he's known he could come to Toronto and play under Babcock, he either wants to play in Toronto, or he wants to stay with the islanders, or he wants to take the big contract somewhere else. Personnel changes aren't going to change his world at this point. Stamkos apparently had a problem with cooper and stayed in Tampa, because he wanted to stay in Tampa.

i'd go into the draft with a fluid plan. no rush at this point.

if a player they have rated in their top 10 drops, look to trade up to get him.

if several highly ranked players are still available at 25, trade down and try to pick 2 of them.

if there is trade for a rh dman on the table, wait to see who is available at 25 before making a deal.

if all else fails, make the pick.

just be patient and try to make the most of the pick based on the best info available.

There was never very much of a chance.
IF he had left the Isles, under the Garth regime, it would have been to a legit contender. Living/playing in TO would not be ideal for JT. You guys wound have hounded the sh!t out of him and put him under a microscope.
