OMG, how are Isles fans enjoying Christmas in June??? They haven't had so much good news in a such a short time in like.....FOREVER! First Lou, then Barzal winning the award, now Trotz! God, if JT stays, their heads will explode!!! But knowing many frustrated fans, this is finally good news for them. Signs of finally going in the right direction. Congrats Isles fans. Long-awaited (too long) and things will only get better.

Melnyk has to sign Karlsson.

He doesn't have a choice. Unless he's completely delusional, he must realize that Karlsson leaving would signal the end of his time as owner of the Ottawa Senators. Melnyk has pretty much offended/alienated every segment of the Senators fanbase. Trading Karlsson would be the last straw. Even if the return was unbelievable, no one in Ottawa would believe it was a 'hockey trade'.

If the rumors are true and he's selling anyways, I would think that he would get more for his team with EK on it, than without.

Karlsson pretty much has a blank cheque at this point. Trading Hoffman for that awful return was desperation to keep him.

Because the other two put the screws to Dorion.

Why?

Likely because Dorion didn't disclose the issues surrounding Hoffman at the deadline. He was shopping Hoffman without full disclosure as to what was happening. It's like shopping a player who you know has an injury or a medical issue and not telling your trading partner - only much worse.
