They really need to trade Tanev, period, lowball offer or no. If they wait until TDL they might not get ANYTHING for him after that. If there's a deal to be made, now is the time to make it as we have a glut of 5-6-7D and a 2 (Edler) and a 3 (Tanev). Time to change the culture on the back end.

The Big Short

The same second round pick will be there at TDL . Don't do it man don't do it.

Thanks - I'll update that. But I'm leaving the part in about how he didn't get a callup last year...

Probably not, if we're getting lowballed now, we're not going to get better offers at TDL (they'll probably get worse then if Tanev gets injured and misses significant time (like he will)). At least you get something for him, instead of hanging onto him for another 2 years and locking up a space that could go to someone better (or at least more durable).

It's probably good to keep him in the mix as long as they're still talking to Archibald. Just in case those talks don't work out?

I agree that the back end needs a shake up, but lets start with the lesser talented players. I would much rather see Stecher and Hutton moved for a low ball offer, Tanev has great defensive value while both Stecher and Hutton struggle at the defensive side of the game.

I'm with Carol, if there are no good offers I'd rather Tanev stays.

Ok there Captain Doomsday....he's worth more to the Canucks than a lowball offer. You dont trade for the sake of trading. I dont know what hes worth but you dont give away your best defenseman because you fear that you can never get rid of him. I do not see the logic in it when they need him.

That kind of thinking gets us what happened to Hamhuis and Vrbata. He might be worth more to us than a lowball offer, but at least we get something for him, instead of keeping him 2 more years then seeing him walk away for nothing.

He'll have a good year

It's a contract year, then after that he'll disappear back into obscurity till the next contract year.

Botch was asked to describe how Hutton looked after everyone talking about how he hit the gym

Botch said he looks like a normal guy, nothing special . He looks like Mike Halford he said

Both are AHL’ers, but Archibald is a leader in Utica so I’d keep him around.

Irrelevant in the long run

Contract year? Doesn’t matter he’s not Esa Tikanen.
