Yes, but Ottawa wanted players in order to stay above cap floor. Flames could have given them cap dumps/mediocre prospects, too. |

let me ask you, what equivalent does Calgary have to Boedkker who DOESN'T have some sort of NTC in his contract
because if you are going to try and sell me on somebody waiving their NTC to go to Ottawa right now, you be cray |

That's fair, although the Flames could have still parted with better assets and then Ottawa could overpay for a free agent if they need to reach the floor. |

I think Hoffman is a simple one. Every GM should be asking his team would you accept him. If the majority say yes then look at making a deal.
Florida is a quieter market so Hoffman going there isn't too bad. The only issue I see is women are kinda hot in Florida. They spend a lot of time making themselves look good because they have a lot of competition. Is Mrs.Hoffman going to be able to handle the women in Florida and potentially hotties that some of those younger players should be nailing on a consistent basis? |

Take Brooke Hogan as an example. Fine young lady. But she re-shaped her boobs and keeps herself in shape with a nice tan. In Alberta you only need one of those three

3 months ago, the price was a 1st++, now we're talking a third liner and other parts. I think Frolik could have been convinced, Ferland could have gone the other way and probably resulted in acquisition of assets in addition to Hoffman based on Boedkker's production and contract. They might have been convinced on Michael Stone for all we know.
Boedkker's production is nothing to shout from the rooftops about

You’re not seriously butthurt about not getting him are you?
And the Sens want players with cap hits higher than their actual salary. Who would the flames have that could match that that would waive??? |

Trading Ferland for Hoffman would have been a dumb move. He scored 21 goals last year; 1 less than Hoffman. And he doesn’t seem to hve a psychotic gf. |

I feel Tre missed the boat on dumping Brouwer to the sens and trying to regroup pics like San Jose did. I wonder if Brouwer plus klimchuk and Kulak would have been enough.
Would have been nice to get that 2nd from Florida. |

Probably if Brouwer would waive. That and I think it's probably an overpay |

I think our management is happy with a decent RD prospect in Bergman...

Todd Cordell: On Mike Hoffman and Zack Smith - ToddCordellCGY
Zack Smith:
2017 - 2018 Season: 5 Goals, 19 Points
Position: Left Wing (Shoots Left)
Age: 30
Salary: 3.25 Mil, with 3 years remaining
For all of these reasons, we don't need - or want - Zack Smith. Now - did you mean to say Mark Stone??

Krista Glover also lives in S. Florida. God help us all if those two find each other. |

Given the return I am pretty sure Ottawa just looked at a map and traded to the team as physically far away as possible. Calgary is in the same country so probably didn't have a shot.
Hoffman is lucky there isn't a team in Australia or that's probably where he would have been traded.
They should have had some kind one year no trade clause in the deal, to ensure he didn't come back east as has happened. Hoffman landing back in the same division may have just cost the Sens Erik Karlssen. |

Oh agreed, just saying that there were players that could have gotten it done if we'd wanted to. Hoffman is a more proven reliable scorer than Ferland at this point as well.
Fully agree on the headache though, this guy needed to go somewhere quiet. |

Yup, not sure why Todd would want to bring that kind of distraction into the dressing room when this team has to focus to get on board with a new coach that isnt a wussy like GG was. However, I wish Tre had been on the ball & moved Stone & maybe a prospect Like Shinkaruk for Hoffman & then turnded around & get that flip of a 2nd, 4th & 5th. God help but we could use a few picks come Friday |

I never said they should have traded for him. I just said it was probably tough to see someone who could really help go for nothing useful. |
