Namesnitkov would be a decent move that could help our 3rd line.
Wonder what the Rangers would want. |

When you look at the cost of signing JVR and Bozak, wouldn't the money be better spent on Tavares? It would cost at least $9 Million to ink these pair and you might get Tavares for around $8M x 7 years. Maybe a trade with Lou on the Island, sends the rights to Tavares for the rights to JVR and both teams can lock up these two for the maximum 8 years. You can always find veteran help on the wings on 1 year contracts, so basically trading a 36 goal winger for Tavares might work.
It's also time to cut bait with Gardiner and sell high. His defensive mistakes diminish his offensive output and his kind of game does not translate into success in the playoffs. |

No way Tavares signs for only 8mil per year. If he signs for less than 10, he's giving whatever team a discount on what he could get. |

He'll sign for $9.1M per season because he wears #91.

As long as he signs that in Toronto. If he signs anywhere else I hope he gets greedy and asks for the moon. |

Spezza could actually be a good option if the Stars were to throw in something else for the Leafs taking on his 7.5 mill cap hit. I'd imagine he would be an upgrade over Bozak on the 3rd line or at least be almost as good. He had an off year last year so this could be a great time to pick him up as a salary dump. |

Dallas doesn't have to do anything. Seguin is a ufa in 2019. They're still good unless they try to land Tavares |

Spezza on third line duties has nightmare written all over it. Slow, not physical, and terrible work ethic. |

Well, the idea was if they have that big chunk of cap space that they can only use for the one year, and Bozak is gone, a 3rd line centre with experience like Spezza could be a good fit if Dallas was willing to throw in something for the salary dump. Realistically any UFA centre out there worth that would be able come in on the 3rd line, with the exception of maybe Thornton, will want at least 2 years which begins to eat into the Big three's first contracts. Is Bozak really that much better than Spezza? |

They don't have to but they might want to, according to rumours they might be wanting to move him. Obviously everything is speculation here, it's just something to talk about. |

Dallas has enough cap space. They could use some Dmen though, so maybe you can dump Gardiner the other way

For the right price, I'd take Namestnikov. I wanted the Leafs to draft him but they moved up and got Biggs and Percy for some stupid reason. Imagine Namestnikov, Rakell and Gibson right now?
But what's the price tag, that's the question, especially after the deal and the productive year he had last year. |

(frank). That. Noise.
Overpaid, old, slow; no thanks.
Dallas would have to give the Leafs a stupid package to make it worth it and they have little to no incentive to give up something like 13th overall just to dump a contract they could buy-out or trade and retain salary on. |

Fair enough, I'm not saying it's the best option but I'd be fine with it. It's pretty doubtful, seems like all the moves the Leafs make these days are with a distinct purpose and this would be a stop gap. |

Namestnikov is another ex london Knight. I wouldn’t mind him as a 3c. But it depends what kind of money he wants. He’s Rfa is he not? Should be an interesting week leading up to the draft!! |
