Hextall is still the Coma man, what a moron. Frost better pan out or they gave away a young first line center to get him. Too much orange and black koolaid for the regular on here, haha Hextall just does not match up to my standards, chew on that. |

I'm a pretty harsh Hextall critic myself but it doesn't mean I think he's doing a bad job.
Hextall is entering season five as Flyers GM. One of my issues with him is he makes trades that more so benefit the draft, rather than speeding up the product on the ice. A perfect example is George McFee. McFee build up the Washington Capitals but doesn't get to enjoy that Cup victory because he is now the Las Vegas Golden Knights GM. Maybe Hextall shouldn't be doing his job like he has all the time in the world.
In my opinion the Schenn trade came too soon. You keep Schenn, you have better offensively depth at forward after drafting Nolan Patrick. If Schenn puts up a 70 season here, we could have gotten an even bigger return for him. This isn't me speaking in hindsight, I've always felt this way.
I cannot deny his Hextall's drafting but his decision is hiring Hakstol, the trading for bad contracts for a better future as if he's guaranteed to be around. The unwillingness to spend on depth on the bottom six, or unwillingness to get this team bigger and stronger to fit "the system". It's bothersome to me. Did our five year plan move up to a ten year plan?
I think he's doing a good job. Not a great job. |

Team Negative is up early today. Hmm, finished 3rd in the metro, has one of the deepest prospect pools in the league, has a legit #1 D who is only 21 years old, has a good 1-2 punch center who will be 25 and 20 at the start of next year, holds 2 first round picks in the upcoming draft, and has ample cap space going into this offseason.
Yup, everything is just god awful and Hextall should be shot. |

Nothing to chew on because your standards mean exactly nothing when it comes to how the Flyers are built.
Please Scotty Bowman, I mean JoeGrief, tell me what your issue is with that article other than it doesnt talk about the Pens enough. |

Think they should probably make both picks. If there's a straight-up sniper in there, so much the better |

Pretty much how I feel. The only exception would be if they can deal the 19th pick for a young NHL center with good wheels, the ability to kill penalties effectively and enough skill to center a 3rd line. That's a deal I'd make.

Find it a bit insulting to Team Negative including Team Derp with them. |

Bill,
Do you know who asked the very last question ("Shoot first mentality valued a bit less")?

Agreed. I was hoping that he'd tell us his full draft priority list so that other teams would be able to ransom him easily.
Also was hoping that he'd either rip this class for being below-average or praise its depth and let us know if he thought last year was below par...you know, morale-boosting stuff for the teenage players you picked/will pick. |

If they could trade 19 to, say, NYR for picks 26 and 28, would you?
Or, you could always trade 19 and 50 to grab 15. |

I do the first deal in a heartbeat. After the top 10-12 guys, IMO, there is group of about 20 or so that aren't really separated by all that much. If I can get 2 of those guys rather than one, absolutely! However, there is little to no chance that the Rags will make that deal, I'm pretty sure their scouting dept would have a stroke if that deal was made.
Don't even go there with deal number 2!

The way I interpreted the answer was 'if he is Ovechkin type then yes, otherwise we find other attributes more important'
That was just my take. Which makes sense looking back at drafting history. |

I feel like if information did leak out of the Flyers front office somehow, Hextall would have the entire office kneecapped to send a message. |

they still got a really good return for him, and keeping him probably doesn't change much last season, with the better offensive depth. if they play the penguins the first round of the playoffs they still should lose that series.

Trading 19 for immediate Nhl help is something Ronald hasn’t done. At some point I hope he does. He has never really given the flyers any immediate help in any of his trades. Hell even his free agent signings.
No issue moving down from 19 to get other assets
Peeps have mentioned Bennett. That is something the flyers have he assets for to acquire assuming Calgary is looking to move him.
Make it worth their while to get him |
