How about the real world in now down to 8 days until the most important Rangers Draft in years?
Despite a league cap increase, is Marc Staal a sensible buyout candidate after having bought out Dan Girardi last season, should some other lower cost veteran d'man become in their reach? Or do you try to deal him and retain some salary, or simply retain him for his veteran Rangers leadership, including in the locker room with their younger players, especially if Zuccarello should no longer be possibly in their future plans? Or in contrast, do they trade as much of, or buyout Smith's remaining contract?
In addition, their original expected signing of Kovalchuk may have hit a snag. Kovy has now drawn interest from eight other teams, prompting the Rangers to also search greater now elsewhere to improve up front, and in key if Cup contention is his primary interest.
And all this doesn't include what to do with some of their other players, nor other potential free agents to reach out to, nor whether or not to make a trade to move up higher in the 1st Round. |

The Rangers have like 29 picks in the first 3 rounds...could you imagine if in 5-6 years no one pans out. Another draft filled with Montoyas and Jessimans and McIlraths and Sanguinettis and on.

I mean you can guess, I just don't understand that you want to be 100% wrong. Ty Snith at 12 already happened. |

Or it could be like their 2008 draft, which was filled with depth. |
