Or in contrast, do they trade as much of, or buyout Smith's remaining contract?
In addition, their original expected signing of Kovalchuk may have hit a snag. Kovy has now drawn interest from eight other teams, prompting the Rangers to also search greater now elsewhere to improve up front, and in key if Cup contention is his primary interest.
And all this doesn't include what to do with some of their other players, nor other potential free agents to reach out to, nor whether or not to make a trade to move up higher in the 1st Round.
