the Stamkos contract looks bad??????????

8.5 mil for 86 pts seems pretty damn good to me.

I think any team would take Stamkos at that price...

I'm going to say JVR.

At 29 he is the most likely to get one of the longer deals this off-season. After Kane's deal a 7x7 deal isn't too far fetched and it's scary.

Grabner contract will only look bad if grossly overpaid. If two year deal at slight raise above what he made in New York, still a solid contract.

Good choice.

I'm gonna go ahead and say James Neal.

He's been a very important player for Vegas this year and the man knows how to score and play in big games.

But whoever decides to give him big money on a long term contract will regret it imo.

David Perron was my other choice.

Yes stay away from Tavares at all costs, those highend centers are way overpaid and amount to nothing. Oh wait, didn't Kuznetsov and his 'James Tanner bloated contract' just win the Stanley Cup and lead the playoffs in scoring?

8.5 Million for 86 points is todays NHL is a great deal. Now Toews cap hit of 10.5 million for 52 points is a terrible contract that they regret agreeing to. If this was written by anyone else it would surprise me but coming from Tanner its not shocking at all...

Re: Stamkos and the broken quotes button

Don't forget 16 points in 17 playoff games despite a slow start.

There is no logic at all behind suggesting Tampa is regretting that contract. None

Jesus H Christ....bloated contract?

Lets face it,every 10 points is a million bucks for forwards, that’s just how it goes. Through in an extra million for consistency and you’re laughing. James is sorta retarded 90% of the time.

I don’ think he watches hockey period. There is nothing he can learn from watching the games, the eye test is deceiving and all he needs is statistics, he said so himself.

Has he ever talked about how exciting a game was, how amazing play was or how incredible a goal was? Ever? I think he would at least mention these things if he watched a game once in a while.

I guess you don’t read his blogs because pretty much every post game blog talks about how exciting or amazing the game, goal, save, play was...

The answer is far more frightening.

He watches hockey.

He is just very ill-equipped to understand it.

It's like me watching Aussie Rules Football - sure, I can see what is happening on TV, but I don't know the rules, nor have I ever played the game, so I can't have an in-depth understanding of what's really going on.

And I sure as hell couldn't write a blog about it that would be worth reading.

Oh Tanner..... JT is slow, ill give you that. But the kid is phenomenal. He has a Joe Thorton-like ability to control the play and makes everyone around him better. Just look at the pay days he got for his boys (Moulson, Okposo, Nielson, etc). The kid is a gamer. Cordell, absolutely right about Grabner. He was useless 5v5. Dangerous on the PK, but is not effective in any 5v5 system. As for bozak, I think he is decent pickup for anyone looking for a 3/4 Centreman. He is great on the draws and solid defensively.

Out of the names listed I wouldn't be too worried about jvr. His game has never relied on speed or playing big even though he IS a big guy. He has good hands around the net and I feel like he could put up 20 to 30 goals well into his thirties.

Wouldn't surprise me if grabner started the season in Europe. His play for the devils was not good at all.

Grabs at 3mill per...NO

Grabs at 1-1.5 mill (like the past two years) ...Yes His speed and PK play alone is worth that.
