Ohtani will get more ABs in the AL as he can DH on the days he is not pitching. |

Only if you have a narrow viewpoint and refuse to look at it in any way except with the tunnel vision mindset that you have. |

I love all the videos going around of Ovie gone wild! This is what a celebration should look like! Celebrate with the people! The ones who pay the over priced tickets and merchandise, they deserve it too! But I feel it's only a matter of time before old, stuffy grumpy, League executives will somehow tell Ovie to tone it down some because it makes the league look bad. I wanna see Ovie party all Summer! |

Back in the day you could pick the cup winner before the season started. One year the Habs lost something like seven games in the whole season. Five cups later along come the islanders to win four. Then the Oilers dynasty.
It was horrible. I agree with James that it’s way better now. Get in and you have a shot. |

My issue is with his comment that two teams have no real reason to be in the Finals.

PLUS: I like that the NHL is pretty random. Way better to see two teams with no real reason to be in the Finals than to see the same two dumb teams four years in a row. The NBA was getting my attention for a while, but every game is 101 to 99 with a last second buzzer attempt and every playoffs are the exact same.
Is that so?
Stanley Cup Champions of the past decade (out of 30 teams)
08-09: Penguins
09-10: Blackhawks
10-11: Bruins
11-12: Kings
12-13: Blackhawks
13-14: Kings
14-15: Blackhawks
15-16: Penguins
16-17: Penguins
Basically the same 3 teams the past decade. Hockey may be more exciting but like the NBA recently, the final results have not been random at all. |

Predators, Sharks, Lightning, Rangers, Bruins, Devils, Canucks, Flyers were the finalists in those years, and the two that happened before your convenient list were the Ducks, Senators, Hurricanes and Oilers.
And then this year Vegas vs the Capitals. I do agree that for the better part of a decade the Penguins, Hawks, Bruins, Kings, Canucks and Capitals were the dominant teams, but I think we still see enough randos in the Finals to validate my original theory.

Did I read that correctly?
Did Tanner just brag about how this blog bought him a whole living room set at Leons?

You did not read that correctly. Maybe if I saved up for 3000 months. I was referencing their notoriously slimey financing policies and asking you to click this twice to help me out. But it was a joke, I simply paid for the new couch with change found in the cushions of the old one. |

Just because you or someone else didn't predict or pick a team to make it to the finals does not make it random.

One team had 105 points, the other, 109, to say it was unexpected is silly. Each was part of a group of teams with an excellent chance to win it all. |

You have to go back to 2001 to find a repeat loser, New Jersey, who lost to the Avs. Also lost to the Kings in 2012. And you can't even say it's conference supremacy like with the NBA. It's tied at 8 winners from each conference, there were a couple of streaks, but it's all very uniform. I think the NHL loves it.
Though I wish they'd fix their alignment. I want actual divisions again. I'd even take the stupid season or two where divisional opponents played each other 8 times over this garbage we have now. 1 inter-conference game is more than enough. Just switch who gets the home game every year. |

Absolutely! I don't care to see the Leafs playing the Coyotes, Knights, Ducks, etc. twice a year. One game is enough. Love more divisional games instead of just 4 times a year!
