Its clear to me that Malkin, who had long been silent has had enough! Bringing in uncle Lou, should be a loud enough message to any one who has ears that Malkin wants to Win and he wants a competitive team playing competitive hockey.. making the playoffs consistently as he opens the doors in Belmont!
Lou will do what needs to be done in a time frame he is comfortable with!
we as fans may not agree with all his moves.. but no one should mistake his vision for what Garth was doing!

I think Tavares is that important to their plans for Belmont (fiscally, besides just team) and they loathe to lose their most important player in decades that will assure ticket sales.

Belmont is sooooo nine minutes ago.

lol

i know the guy who is pushing Ronk would love to buy the Isles. Don't think Malkin selling. Ledecky? Maybe. I've heard he's not a happy camper since Malkin pulled his power move and getting all the kudos. And even if he did... Malkin won't blink. Belmont is key for their fiscal plan and partnership with Oak View. Oak view just opened up a NYC office and will be taking in the Isles marketing/business efforts that Barclays previously handled.

"even I’ve learned my lesson after getting burned twice on buying the Isles internal position pre-Lou."

Honestly are really shocked that you were wrong? Nobody else is I can tell you that

It is a funny little drama, isn't it?

Ray Bartoszek is studying the feasibility of building an NHL rink - for no particular reason.

I'm assuming the actual study will come back with "hell no, don't build it" and they will just proceed with the rest of the development (a nice little bait and switch), but as long as it is out there, idiot conspiracy theorists like me can continue to have fun.

The Bartoszek Plan

1. Tavares leaves
2. Very rare Atlantic Red Jumpy Sand Frogs discovered at Belmont - site declared a protected habitat.
3. Malkin becomes desperate to sell...

McLellan did say last night that if Trotz wants to be back, he'll be back and later Trotz said he wanted to be back. So, that may have all been posturing, but I'm not overly confident he'll be going anywhere. Although that might give us a shot at Rierden.

Trotz makes a lot of sense. especially after Caps win. Fact he was tied longterm when the GM was tied in longterm back in March had others thinking that it could backfire on the Cap org bc then he can listen to other offers.

True. And I think Tippett has to be a dark horse.

TO has Keefe and Smith. Both with no head coach experience. There are only a few viable choices with NHL pedigree.

Trotz, Tippett, and well... Bob Hartley, perhaps. Very dry well once past the first two.

People will probably think this is a bad take, but its just something I have thought about recently.

What's the likelihood that John Tavares is a closeted egomaniac obsessed with upholding his image of being the old fashioned ultimate team guy/quiet leader who has a franchise by the balls and is using that advantage to do so?

I think the last thing he wants is to be labeled the same way Eichel was when the Sabres cleaned house a couple of years ago (Eichel was blamed for the firings).

This is kind of the opposite end of that situation, but walking because you're offended that a coach, whose team was practically unwatchable despite having an elite offense, got let go because of a personal relationship would be a bad look for Tavares. It totally discredits the "all I am worried about is winning" narrative he's been building for over a year.

True but what do you really expect him to say after winning the cup 10 minutes earlier? Malkin gives him a blank check and now he has to think about it I think its a long shot but I think Trotz might still have some bad blood towards them for hanging him out to dry all season. I guess we'll see

he's been pretty clear on liking Weight these couple of years, but I heard he wasn't as in love with Snow overall. Liked the guy, but he was a bit more reserved on him last spring. So it could be that his agent and he were also concerned on the last 2 year struggle. So playing it to the end and seeing if owners blink is possible, but I am sure JT didn't want either canned. Just probably more concerned on HOW they fix items.

Side note. I stopped spending money on this team 2 years ago. I said until Snow was gone I wasn't giving them a dime. So I looked into the Coli plan. If I get the Coli plan which is 12 regular season games at the coli 1 preseason game there as well and 3 weekend games at Barc I can the 30 games at Barc for another 150. That's basically 5 bucks a ticket to sit up top in the corner where they shoot twice

Oh I see now. For only $150 more you can do 30 games at Brett Yormark's Tiny Penis Playground?

Keep in mind that you'll also incur the cost of the LIRR butt-f'ing you with no lube for 30 round-trip tickets

Of course. I have no intentions of going to all 30. I'll pick out the divisional games and that alone is worth the 150. The rest I give away for free or 10 bucks a pop and it pays for itself and if they are really good I'll even make a few bucks if I want or go watch some good hockey for 5 bucks a ticket. It's really a no brainer if you buy the Coli plan to spend the extra 150 for 30 games
