Yeah, Ovechkin is one of those "you either love 'em or hate 'em" players. I like how he plays the game and think he's one of the most electrifying players so I'm happy that he and the Capitals won their first Cup. Congrats to Washington.

Agree. Best to spend optimally across multiple players especially at a position where the team is really weak.

You'd also need to consider term of each contract. Tavares is looking for a long-term contract, I'm guessing 8+ years. I imagine in comparison Faulk and de Haan could each be had for half that term.

It feels weird, but you can't do the math that way because it doesn't actually count the first season. For example, Alex Debrincat's first season was 17/18; but using the same method you did above gives you 2018 -2018, he's played 0 seasons.

Yes - You have to subtract out the seasons they didn’t play, so if they started in 1974-75, you subtract out 1973-74.

This game tonight shows that Stan Bowman has a lot of work to do in the next three weeks, because as I see it only Seabrook, Kieth, TOEWS and Kane And a healthy Crawford, could crack Washington’s game time lineup for tonight.
