I would love to have the Oiler pick up Petan.

Would you guys trade Trouba for Wayne Simmonds straight-up? Simmonda has 1 more year at under $4M, and if you want to go all-in next year, he's can be an "over the hump" piece. He's obviously older than Trouba, but his extension after next season will likely be lower, in AAV, that what Trouba will want this year.

Just a thought.

straight up for Simmons, NO! Simmonds is a UFA after next year and no guarantee he stays or for how much? We already have to re sign Connor, Laine and Wheeler after next season. I get what you are saying about "going all in" but our window just opened and I'm not ready to give up 6 years of great chances at a cup for 1 "all in " year.
If Trouba did come out and say he wanted to be moved I think the cost would be Simmons and Phillipe Myers or but less likely Sanheim.

I get what you are saying now but actually RW is not deep on this team. Wheeler is not signed to an extension yet and could very well price himself out of staying here. Roslovik (currently playing RW ) should be moved to center. So who is our 2nd line RW in a year? Armia? ouch! Appleton? are you that confident in him? Little? possibly.

No, because he's (when healthy) possibly the most complete package, forward-wise, in the league who can be a difference maker even when he's not getting onto the score sheet.

Wheeler and Laine are great players, no doubt, but having a guy like Simmonds would be like what Pittsburgh did with Guerin, getting that one guy that can get you over the hump, so to speak.

I would absolutely pick Sanheim over Myers but don't see the Flyers doing it, I just think Simmonds and Myers is more fair. I personally would want more for Trouba than a first rounder and someone a year away from UFA status. Simmonds, Myers and a 2nd? or Simmonds and Sanheim? but is that too much now for Trouba?

Trouba is the right fit for the Jets if he wants to stay. His projected salary can work.

I think Simmonds is a premier power forward that if available we could find room for him - some shifting of positions required. I am picturing a line with Perreault/Lowry(Copp)/Simmonds at about 16mins/game +PP time. Can we work something out with Myers&Petan for Simmonds?

Reduce the jets salary cap by 4.8M while replacing Little with a younger, more talented centre. Yes Please!!!!! Little's contract is garbage. Guy is a turnover machine who does nothing but float in the slot. Wish we could trade him and use that money on Statsny, or this trade.....
