Assistant coaches are going to be important. I am curious to see who will be brought in specifically to work with all of our young defensemen.

In Gorton we trust, Tavares or bust...

Comes across the same way he did in his presser: very poised and well spoken. Talk is cheap, so hopefully this will translate to a better team going forward...

He IS just the type of coach this team needs.

With all of the college players on this team, he will be able to relate, and teach the new comers. Practice will actually be an activity that has meaning.

AV must have forgot that practice makes perfect.

Clark Gillies once said that he never practiced harder than he/Isles did leading up to playoffs. I always figured it would be in training camp, but nope....Arbour thought you should practice the hardest before your hardest competition. AV...not so much

Quinn NOW represents a slower longer process as of NOW...

alot of whats important to this season is if they ATTACK the league with all the draft picks & prospects & players and come out of it with

TOP talent at center , scoring & D ...

Getting Karlsson outta Ott & with HANk is why Hank stayed ?possible

over paying to get a center & ,Karlsson is not a biggie \

F A JVR ,& Grabs or NAsh or both if giiving Home ton discount .
great 3rd & 4th line components

IF IF...IF...

I dint see NYR doing what i hope & being a top contender NOW

worst to first ...why not , its just there approach i'm dying to see

since last summer we have been hood winked & feb letter was 6 moths too late

shoulda said in Sept . we aint competing to win it all , just dump & rebuild

thats what they did , just cant say that when swaon tkts areon the line

sold us bill of garbage lst yr , not goods , good man A V never stood a chance

LIKe the new coach alot , hiope his team dont play like the B U team he just left ...
need talent to win ... aint enuf here ,go buy it ...L G R

All I commented on was Quinn...IMO, he is GREAT choice. As far as the rest of your post, i.e. #1 center, I agree, but we need patience. At least till after draft/FA signings/prospects show their stuff in training camp...no?

Need to make a pitch for Tavares. If he doesn’t sign with Isles he’ll be top target. Signing him is a no brainer. Fans complained all last year that we traded Stepan. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to have a high end #1C. Don’t need to give up anything. Nobody we draft this year will be on roster next year. Also have to be careful with how many games young guys play in next 2 years. Another expansion draft coming.

W/ Lamorillo at the helm I'd be very surprised if JT and even Kovi don't sign w/Isles . NYR needs a year to sort out what it really has as far as core group going forward. Seguin and a few others will be available year after next. Make a push then , when it is known what Quinn and team actually are.......NO to E.Karlsson as well. It has buyers remorse written all over it w/ his bum wheel and cost...both in $$$ and players/picks.

I’m guessing you mean with Lou you’d be surprised Isles don’t sign those players???? I don’t get your comment saying we need a year to figure out what we have? Gorton’s job is to put best players on ice... they’re not going to waste another year of Lundquists final years. Rangers have money to spend. As long as we don’t trade away picks and prospects( I agree in not chasing Karllson)

Yes.

IDK, just feel that a lot has changed and not much is known as to where NYR will stand personnel wise until training camp. Im reallhy only against E.Karlsson signing . Im open to anything else, as long as its reasonable terms/$$

I haven't watched too many Isles games this year, so can't say for sure, but I've heard JT has Pavel Bure's knees. If that's the case, I don't want to sign him to the contract he's looking for. Lou was brought in by the owners to make sure he stays on LI. I don't see him going anywhere.
The next expansion draft is going to make contracts really interesting.

From who? He missed significant time one year, when he hurt his knee at the Olympics, and that was four years ago

Ya I’d stay away from Karlsson as well. Trade 26 28 and Spooner for 10 and draft Dobson and Bouchard back to back.

We can both agree in not tying up any amount over $10M in annual cap space at a minimum which it will require at a bargain rate to pay Erik Karlsson, who said this past season that he wants to be the highest paid NHL player. Even if Ottawa were to make a sign and trade of him prior to July 1st, they would never be willing to pick up more than a very low percentage of his new earnings. He is worse defensively career wise than your favorite at likely anywhere up to 1/2 less in price in Shatty, who has a (+3) career +/- rating. Nor would I want a Justin Faulk, who is horrible defensively with a (-109) career rating, after coming off his (-26) of this past season, with Karlsson just slightly better with a nearly equal poor (-25).
At this current point, I wouldn't just yet trade two current year #1 picks to move up in the draft. I would wait until getting closer to the draft, and first assess the daily situation of all teams otherwise, in regards to players being made available in trades, as well as watching potential free agents who appear they will be more likely to head that route as time gets closer to the draft.
