First, Bettman has come out and said the cap would be going up at this time of year before then in the summer when it’s actually official it is usually less than what he previously stated.
Secondly, Chia and Bob I believe both said they aren’t going to be in on any Big UFA types. So hopefully they stick to that...

Pirri seems to be a guy that we should sign with the hopes of him being a good AHL pickup.

Here was Nielsen's bargin bin list today. Lots have talked about Derek Ryan for years. Calvert is a PK guy so I'm guessing Yawney will be asked about. MPS and Versteeg are two back to the future guys, but on PTO's or league min they'd be good depth. Comeau being from SASK seems like a fit that can play both wings

Really depends what Big UFA means to them. I doubt Carlsson, Neal or Statsny are on the list, but are any of the potential vets that will get 3-4mil considered big moves?

It's heartening at least right now that the number is consistent to what was said over 6 months ago. Even if the cap is 82 million this Oilers team does not have the option to target big names. I would like to share your optimism on what Chia and Bob have said.

I am by no means looking to trade RNH, but I do wonder with the lack of Center options available this year if there is a chance PC moves RNH.
