Good news indeed Still don't count Stollie out of it yet, but the future in goal at least has some nice potential and hope - something we have not had in a few years |

No pressure kid. The stereotype of flyers mediocre to terrible goaltending doesn’t rest on your shoulders or anything. |

For all of his flakiness, Cechmanek was a Vezina finalist his first season in the NHL, and won the Jennings his 3rd. Beat Ed Belfour in a 7-Game series in 2002-03. Flyers lost to Ottawa in playoffs in 2002 (scoring just 2 goals the entire series) and 2003 (never scoring more than 2 in any game of the series). The combined 3 games the Flyers won in the two series vs. Ottawa were all via Cechmanek shutouts, one being a 1-0 OT win.
Esche shared the Jennings with Cechmanek in 2002-03. The next year, he outplayed Martin Brodeur and Belfour in the first two rounds of the playoffs and got the Flyers to within a 2-1 loss in Game 7 vs. Tampa of getting to the Cup Final.
Leighton had three shutouts in the 2010 Eastern Conference Final vs. Montreal. In the Cup Final vs. Chicago, he was no worse (but, alas, no better) than Antti Niemi over most of the series up until Patrick Kane's impossible angle Cup winner in OT in Game 6.
Sadly, the Flyers goalies can't all be like all those Vezina-winning goalies the Leafs have had since Johnny Bower and Terry Sawchuk, with all those Cup Finals runs and subsequent Cup rings to show for it in the last 51 years. Maybe the Flyers can someday, we pray, at least unearth the next Andrew Raycroft or post-1993 Felix Potvin for their very own so they needn't look so covetously at all those Leafs netminders who really shined in so many playoff elimination/series clinching situations. |

If Hextall wanted too, What would be this kids value be on the trade market ? I think it would be insane to trade him but Hextall has said, Anything to make his club better. |

Oh my, I've been following for a couple of years and this will be the first time that I actually posted anything. This is the best to the point post that I can remember for a long time. Excellent job Bill. |

I would say by trading Hart, he wouldn't be making the team any better. But then there is another goaltender who is promising as well in the system. Ron does need to think about getting a few tougher humans on the team to better protect the future goalies from the few individuals out there that constantly like to "accidentally" run into the goalies. |
