Would you rather have Kane for a 1m compared to those guys? I would. Fair market price compared to the last few offseasons

Yeah, I guess... Makes sense. Just not a big fan of his, so 7M a year seems high.

If he can keep his head out of his ass and focus on hockey...
That being said, he was at the casino in Calgary the night before he scored four against the Flames. Treated the waitress like poop-the guys a pompous wiener.

He just cant stay healthy. If he finally played a full season it could be a really good contract. Guy has been a 20 goal scorer for 3 or 4 seasons in a row. Pretty constant production.

Kane as a player is a gamble...health or off ice stuff, the contract is just normal business

If he can sustain something close to the production we saw for those first few weeks after the trade deadline, this will be a good deal.

If he continues to get banged up and hampered by injuries (which is likely due to his style of play) - could be a bad deal long term for the Sharks.

I like him as a player - a lot. Would have liked to see 5.5/year....maybe 6/year.

Those are all mistakes, this is just history repeating itself

I mean...he can't stay healthy, he's got off-ice issues, scored 30g and more than 50pts exactly one time...six seasons ago. By your contract-comparables, Ladd's contract is decent too...and his deal is $1.5M cheaper, in terms of AAV.

If you watch him a lot you will quickly see he is just not a smart hockey player who doesn’t know what to do out there. He has all the tools and that carries him to a certain extent but can’t stay healthy and the second he loses even a half step, he’s done.

He get a bit of leeway in this contract being 26, going into the season at 27.
Most of those guys were 28-30 when signing those contracts going into the following season.

On paper that seems like a smarter by based on his age. I am not saying its a good contract, Its just fair market value
