Stone will sign a 1 year deal to get him to UFA status to cash in
Stone will sign a mega 7-8 year deal and roll the dice with the Sens
Stone will sign an offersheet that the Sens will not match
I dont see any logic for Stone to sign a 4 year contract, a deal like that starts to hurt the potential of his next one. Guy will set it up right to cash in big now, or even bigger 1 years from now |

I think Stone will go the mega deal route. Max term. Not sure he will fetch 8.77, but he certainly will get paid. That's the only contract I care about.
If Ceci is getting 4 mill - explore other options. Claesson was next to useless last year. Very replaceable guy. Worth having a 2-way contract option in his place.
I'd sign Wideman I think. I think he'd be an ok option on a 3rd pair.
I'm impartial to Magnus but feel a younger guy should have a roster spot. Stop having useless veteran players take up roster spots.
I think the Karlsson and Duchene situations are just an important. Would be nice to lock both of them up and Stone to get the season off to a good start. No distractions. But alas, that probably will not happen. |

1. no one likes you guys
2. stone won't get an offer sheet, get that out of your head
3. Trevor, fair article and I like the topic. That said with all due respect don't see any of those contracts happening.
Stone - 8 years @ 7.625 (61m)
Duchene - 8 years @ 7.75m (62m)
Wideman - 1 year @ 1.25m
Ceci - 4-5 years @4m |

You sure are high on this offersheet scenario. It could be a lot to give up for a team though to get the Sens not to match.
At the least a 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

For real. Trolling is not something he's good at; he thinks he is so let's maybe let him have that at least
Offer sheets are VERY rare. I could see a team like EDM making on for a D-man; maybe a guy like Ceci, although again I don't see that happening. Most GMs know it's an unwritten rule not to do that to each other |

Offersheets are rare but it still is a possibility and thus why it is option 3 and lowest on the list. As slight of a chance that it may be, if there ever was a team to be bullied around by an Offersheets, its the Sens with their history of penny pinching ways.
And its not just me who is high on it. When a lot of hockey writers have covered the topic already, as Stone potentially being an Offersheets target. Its not just hockey buzz (frank)ery |

you're a complete moron, the fact that other writers have posted that they see Stone as a potential target
http://ottawasun.com/spor...-much-is-mark-stone-worth
https://www.sportsnet.ca/...work-six-players-get-one/
So Ottawa Sun, Sportsnet, and TSN have all talked about it already....yeah its trolling, Its actually sad at how dumb you are at at the logistics that surround your own team.
The slight chance it could be a reality with Stone is how poorly run your team is, how cheap your owner is, and how incompetent your GM is. Like I said, if there was one team to get bullied around by an Offersheets this offseason its the Sens |

It just seems like a team would have to give up a lot to ensure Ottawa wont sign/ get stone to sign.
They'd have to go right to the top of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd to try and get Ottawa not to match.
Although the idea of the Avs offer sheeting Stone would be pretty great investment by the Avs (from the article you linked) Good amount to pay, and hurt the Sens even more.
It might guilt Duchene into staying though. |

Stone is 26. Why would he sign a 4 year deal.
He either bridges himself to UFA, or signs around 8 x 8.5, possibly even more. Look at what Kane got... and he isn't anywhere near the value of Stone.

The scare of offersheets is talked about more than actual offersheets happening, so yes it is a slight chance
But just with Eugene, if Stone is getting low balled a bit in contract talks...I dont know his arbitration rights status, but if he is only getting say offered 6.5m for 5 years and someone comes by and offers him a 7.8m for 5 years or whatever it may be to top off the comp at 1st 2nd and 3rd round pick. Would be hard to pass up an extra 1m+ each year especially when you never know what happens in your career, how long you have to make as much money as you can. IMO loyalty goes out the window after you sign your contract after ELC. Guys could leave money on the table once, after that its hard to get them under full market price
Realistically it wil be the 1 year bridge deal to UFA if talks are going sour, or he signs a mega extension with Sens and then plays it out....could be eventually traded a year or 2 into that extension or is in it for the long haul.
With how public the karlsson extension talk is from the Sens....if someone offersheets stone that would really put the Sens in a tough spot especially if they need to figure how much it would cost to keep both EK and Duchene.
Avs doing it would be funny and evil but I doubt he is offersheeted at all. It just would be good Theatre for this offseason |

My predictions:
Mark Stone - 8 x $7.25 to $7.5M
Cody Ceci - 4 x $4M
Freddie Claesson - not re-signed
Chris Wideman - 2 x $1.3M
Pajaarvi - 1 x $950K |
